Trayvon Martin was a 17-year-old African-American who never had the chance to live his dream. A young teenager battling with the realities of life in order to make a well informed choice. Simply put, he was just a child. And like every other African-American child in the United State, the hate was there. A change that classed out slave masters from the enslaved, from what it used to be, to what it is today, something not many non-African-Americans have accepted. Trayvon Martin died because of this hate. A mother, lost her little boy, a brother, became brotherless and the American judicial system couldn’t give them justice all because of the same hate.

Few hours ago I received a video link via my Twitter account page – @opinionnigeria, where Bill Whittle of the P.J Media in his AfterBurner program, justified the killing of Trayvon Martin on the grounds that Zimmerman had to defend himself when been fought. Agreed! But was Martin fighting him with a weapon or was he trying to collect his gun from him? Bill made lots of what I consider “admissible” analysis regarding the fight but what he forgot to address is the fact that Trayvon Martin was fighting back with his “hands” not gun and from what Bill said in his video, Martin was actually winning the fight. But that’s not where I am heading to right now, the point that I want to draw your attention to is this, if Zimmerman wasn’t a “disturbed and violent” man, and if truly he has no hate for the colour of his opponent, why then did he have to use gun on him? Was Martin a criminal? Did he show to him, any sign of criminal intention in the gated community? Has he seen or caught him steal before in that community or any other place? Let’s not forget that the same Zimmerman in 2005, at the age of 21, was charged with assaulting a police officer on duty and resisting arrest. In the same 2005, Zimmerman’s ex-fiancée filed a restraining order against him, alleging domestic violence. Now tell me, doesn’t that sound like a man that can kill at anytime not minding the consequences?

The reality of this whole drama is simple, the white American community, the white American people, still hate it that what Martin Luther King said, the “I have a dream speech”, has finally come to America. They still tell themselves that the Blacks are black and the Whites are white and that they are superior.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed…I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood…I have a dream that one day my four little children will live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character…Martin Luther King Jr.

In the past days of America’s history, during the troubled times of the Blacks in America, young blacks in America are lynched on their ways to get candy from the stalls, not because they stole nor robbed, but just for being “BLACK”. Any black person killed during that time by a white kid whether wronged or not, dies in vain because even the government was in support of it. Today, in this age of civilization and unimaginable transformation, the BLACKS in America, the people they selectively referred to as “African-American”, still have no peace.

What happened to Trayvon Martin is nothing but a MODERN day LYNCHING and as usual, the government, the WHITE Americans who are in control of the law, still did nothing to give justice. If the so-called African-Americans in America don’t do anything to see that Martin’s killer, George Zimmerman is sentenced, another black child will be killed, and another will be killed, and yet another, will be killed and the hate, will never be put to rest.
