President Muhammadu Buhari belongs to a Nigerian military elite establishment, who fought the civil war, conquered Biafra and brought it back into the one Nigerian deception. They perceive themselves as the heroes of modern Nigeria and the state as their war booty. Therefore, the oil wealth of the Niger Delta and other abundant resources across the country is the spoils of war, which they must enjoy to their sinful satisfaction, because to the victor go the spoils. In this group you have: Olusegun Obasonjo, Theophilus Danjuma, Muhammadu Buhari, Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Babangida, etc. They have decided to continue in the looting crime until their generation is passed, and whatever that will be left of Nigeria is none of their business. All of the members of this military elite establishment have one thing in common – they are all “leaders” with the fixed mindset, who consider themselves royals of the Nigerian criminal empire.

Having regaled themselves as royalties, heroes, and superstars in the Nigerian Kingdom, they consider themselves, too, as its smarter firstfruits. They forgot that there were real men and nationalists who fought with their blood to liberate Nigeria from colonial powers, yet those men did not lust for the riches of the nation for themselves. Most of those nationalists did not even have a good home for themselves till their death. But these lazy, pot-bellied, unintelligent modern Lords and Princes of Nigerian Kingdom only contribution is the civil war they fought, and which would not have happened in the first place was it not for their tenacity for greed and hate towards a section of the country. When you listen to some of them gloat over their conquest of Biafra, you would wonder if it was in the World Wars that they fought. But, no, it was the war in which they killed their Igbo brothers that they take delight in and relish their experiences. They are men with gargantuan ego, who lack the true mindset of leaders.

From this group emerged current president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari – the president without secondary certificate – but thinks he is the smartest Prince in the Nigerian Kingdom. In the mindset of President Buhari, no one is better than him. He does not just consider himself the Prophet Muhammad of Nigeria, he perceives himself, too, as the Prince that must sit on the Nigerian throne, even if it means dying on it. It must be him or the kingdom collapses. In today’s Nigeria, which has already collapsed before his nose, he lives in a different reality. President Buhari has cloaked himself in the trappings of royalty, and like many with fixed mindset, he has also surrounded himself with flatterers who extol him as Mr. integrity, incorruptible, and the substantive exorcist of the demons of corruption from the corrupt empire of Nigeria. With his fixed mindset he has created the illusion realm in which his “brilliance” and “perfection” as the best Nigerian president or king is constantly validated by his serfs and praise singers.

You have to understand, too, that leaders with the fixed mindset do not hire real intelligent people into their cabinet. They always surround themselves with morons, who will continue to validate them as the best. Because they do not want someone else to get the credit of any good thing accomplished. It must be them first. For this reason, often times, the consequences of this mindset are monumental disaster. Do you now understand why all his ministers are underperforming? Do you now see why Nigeria slides into economic recession? He would not appoint the Okonjo Iwealas, the Chukwuma Soludos, and Oby Ezekwesilis. How do you even want him to allow an Igbo to take the credit of any success in his government? That is not possible. Besides his Islamic and ethnic agenda, he knows whatever success of his government could be credited to the real smart people, especially since he has no secondary school certificate. People may not regard him as the brain behind the successes. However, true leadership requires appointing the best people to achieve the greater good. It would be wisdom to appoint the right people in the right positions to produce the right results, not minding their gender or ethnicity.

Alas, President Buhari is not that kind of leader. He is invincible, invulnerable, and entitled to any good thing you can think of. However, whenever any failure is mentioned, blame it on former president, Goodluck Jonathan. There you have the fixed mindset again. President Buhari has not accepted any blame of his regime’s monumental failures. It seems President Buhari is not just incompetent but he is also a Failurist. But blame it on Goodluck Jonathan. Even in a situation where it is now obvious that he is incapable due to sickness, he prefers the Nigerian Kingdom to collapse than to let another prince be crowned, because it must be him or no one else. Rather than resign honorably he is clinging to life and power at the same time.

Unsurprisingly, you would also notice that none of the members of his elite establishment has come out to condemn his failures. Are they telling Nigerians that the rot in the country today is not worse than what was seen under president Goodluck Jonathan? If they do and Nigerians buy it, it means they are all smoking their own dope. I would never agree that today’s Nigeria is better than the Nigeria under Goodluck Jonathan. And to blame the failures on Goodluck Jonathan would be moronic. He was no saint, but Nigeria’s economic progress under his leadership was significant. In fact, I was a fan of his agricultural policy that I had to write a thesis on it in one of my master program assignments. I would not have done that if I did not believe in the soundness of the policy. He appointed the best man as the minister of agriculture and he made positive impacts in that sector. It was the same thing in other sectors under President Goodluck Jonathan. That is the difference between the two leaders – mindsets.

Also, notice that those who wrote numerous open letters to sabotage the government of Goodluck Jonathan have all gone silent. Why? It is because the current president is their man, and they all have the same mindset. They all belong to the same military elite establishment. Don’t forget, Goodluck Jonathan was an outsider – and they wanted him out so badly. Otherwise, why would they not understand that Nigeria is in uglier reality today than it was two years ago? Why have they not come to the realization that President Buhari is not just incompetent but also a Failurist? But no, they prefer to preserve him in a casket as Nigerian president than for him to resign, as long as it gives them the opportunity to continue in the looting crime.

The current leadership precedent is a tremendous risk that will soon give Nigeria a super surprise…Let’s hope it will be one that will still keep Nigeria in tact.
