President Muhammadu Buhari

I’m writing to you with a straight face,

Even my soul is not smiling.

We elected a president,

Not a class-captain.

Corrupt leaders keep screaming into our ears,

Yet you aren’t writing names of noise maker as promised.

Our soliders have turned themselves into the boy’s scouts,

While our army is behaving like members of the Red Cross.

Policemen are on the street arresting innocent boys,

It seems you have forgotten about our Chibok girls.

Please include “memory card” allowance in the budget,

It’s obvious most of our politician’s brain are full.

It’s not all about moving round town in long convoy, disturbing our streets with loud siren.

I won’t like you to consider the saying, “an empty barrel make the loudest noise.”

Talk to your cabinet,

Everything is not about changing their wardrobe

We Nigerians won’t take rubbish,

“Lawma” is already doing that.

Act fast on Boko Haram,

Before innocent ghosts invade our city to protest.

Greed has succeeded in pushing our naira,

We all saw how it fell.

Loans are being collected under our nose,

Using our unborn generation as collateral.

All you promised was to revoke change,

Don’t tell me you are here to provoke us.

Am standing for all hungry breast-feeding mothers,

Whose breasts have refused to produce milk.

I bring you the heart of many,

Whom hardship has turned into glass.

I’m writing on behalf of those,

Whose hands were removed innocently.

I’m speaking on behalf of those,

Whose graves were made early.

If you can’t give us the change we want,

At least don’t collect the little change we have.
