No To Ungodly Charges In Unimaid -By Doctor Bobolie
Education is the hope of the common man in Nigeria. It’s also our right to be educated. The management of unimaid has published the fees and charges for the 2019/2020 academic session.
There has been an unimaginable increase in the school fees, accommodation fees and other charges with the department of medicine and surgery being served hot.
The returning fee for the department of medicine and surgery is normally within the range of 30,000 to 40,000 Naira. It has now been increased to 106,000 and above for the various levels in the department. Not just the department of medicine and surgery. The school fees of physiotherapy department has also been increased from 28000 to 60000 Naira just to mention a few.
What is the cause of this sudden increase? Are we also affected by the closure of the country borders? Is it now a crime to want to be educated? A school situated in North Eastern Nigeria,a region which is being ravaged by the menace of insurgency shouldn’t be this merciless.
Even the students from this part of the country can’t afford these fees come to talk of students who travelled long distances to school in Unimaid. We are not just complaining,the fees are too outrageous.
