The parents are the closest friends to the children when they are kids. Unfortunately the distance in relationship becomes more pronounced as the children grow into teenagers. The teenagers who are naive about their emotions begin to see more need to relate with external acquaintances about their sexuality than their parents. Adolescence is when our child stops being our child and becomes our friend. We should see the need right from the age of 6years which is two years to pre-puberty, to begin the relationship and guardian towards the phase of change in the life of the young child. This is a phase that is filled with the anxiety of body change and hormonal expression of strange emotions.

Parenting is much tasking at two stages in the life of a child. The first stage is at infancy stage, when the child is very delicate and requires adequate care in terms of nourishment for the body. The second stage is at adolescent, this stage which is beyond the nourishment of the body to meet the demands for growth transformation, also involves emotional nurturing. If a nursing mother is expected to take out time from other engagements of work to nurse the small baby for 3-months and above then, the adolescent child as a baby of emotional birth demands even more attention, this time not just from the mother alone but inclusive of the father.

Pregnancy which is one capability of a matured female is celebrated as a sign of fertility when it does occur in the life of a married lady. Pregnancy which is normally expected after marriage in consonance with societal values has much preparation following it from the couple who are expectant of a baby (the pride of marriage). Pregnancy is always an accidental occurrence amongst teenagers who are caught up in the midst of experimenting, to unravel the curiosity of their body chemistry. The young-stars (teenagers) are always fascinated with the euphoria of the body change and, get stimulated having the body make-up of adults, which they have patiently fancied all through their growing phase as a child.

More often, parents welcome the arrival of a baby with warmth and dedication. They are willing and ready to incline to the daily needs of the child whom they nurse with so much love and passion. The growth of the child towards independence naturally springs up abandonment from some parents. These parents who excuse themselves from active participation in the lives of the children have the mind assurance that the child can at the stage do well on his/her own, relatively without their inputs. Parenting is not a wish it is a life time job. The parents must understand that the child is growing on a daily basis. The child is new to every phase of growth that confronts him/her daily and as such tends to possess little knowledge on what is happening. It therefore behold on the guardian to follow up the growth phase, interacting with the child to give real understandable explanations to them concerning their body experiences.

If the father and mother cannot find good timings to educate their child about their body and sexuality, they open these teenagers to wrong notions and misrepresentations of what they ought to know. The parents are at the best position to study the teenagers who will try so hard to hide a lot from their notice. A good parent should know the child and understand their few tricks. The parents cannot succeed without the support of other persons who have impact on the social life of the teenagers. These other older members of the child’s social group are the extended relatives, religious leaders, teachers, role models and counselors…to be cont’d.
