Reacting on the recent assassination of Senator Gyang Dalyop Dantong, Plateau North, senate president David Mark vowed that they will do everything within the ambit of the law to ensure that such murderous act is stopped.

Now before i go any further, i must let you all know that David Mark is among the few politicians i admire and respect. He is smart, intelligent, authoritative and has a way of making people do things they wouldn’t normally do.
However, it is unfortunate that Nigerian leaders enjoy coating the truth in every issue. Why can’t they always say it the way they see it? Is the senate president telling Nigerians that he is ignorant of the true cause of the senators death? Why do they always lay everything on the shoulders of the fulani-herdsmen? I am not in any way accusing the senate president but only saying that he, the senate and government in general has a role to play in providing serious security for the citizens of Nigeria. The truth is, if these herdsmen have a public voice, they would have cried out to defend these accusations from the government.

I see this as a well calculated plan by those politicians who see themselves as the alpha-mayors in the society. Have you asked yourself how herdsmen or cattle rearers acquire AK47? How come their mode of operation is similar to that of the Boko Haram? How is it that they often transport themselves in and out very quickly immediately after any of their operations? How is it that their leaders never come up to either condemn or support their actions? How come they have a target group or individual since they are considered unevolved? It shames me when our leaders begin to speak unintelligibly just because they are trying to hide the truth from the public.

Nigerians will bear witness that this is not the first time that a thing of this nature is happening. It is also not the first time that the senate president is making such vows. People are tired of repeated grammar of using the law to bring the perpetrators to book. They are tired of having committees setup without doing anything. They are tired of having authorities arrest crime offenders without prosecuting them at the end. In the thinking of the government, the best way of ensuring security is to harass real innocent Nigerians by constantly searching(scanning) them, putting up blockages and causing traffic on every nook and crannies…in case you are unaware Mr Senate President, security has quite advanced past that stage, this is the 21st century for crying out loud. Be charismatic enough that people can hold you to your words.

Mr Senate President, Nigerians implore you to use the power of your office to do the right thing in order to transform Nigeria. If the killing has got to senators desk, then it has either left that of the ordinary Nigerians or maybe become worst for them.

The morning light is still shinning, lets make hay while it last.

Who says the government are unaware of the true cause of the senators death? As far as i know, this is a well hatched plan by these barbaric and blood sucking muslims.

Those emirs who claim to guard the city are the real problem that this country have. Until the government round these guys up, they wil never let peace rain. Ask yourself, was it this bad when there own person was leading this country.?

One thing is sure Mr Jeff, perpetrators of evil wil never go free. Well done sir, your article is inspiring.
