How I wish everybody can learn the saving skills and habit of Gen. Buratai. This extraordinary saving culture will not only emancipate one from financial mess but it will also help to formulate a new saving policy.

Gen. Buratai would be clocking 56 in November, 2016. I learned he joined the Nigerian Army in 1981 as NDA cadet. He was afterward commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in 1983. Let’s assume that the gentleman has been earning an approximate amount of N600,000 per month from 1983 hitherto.

From 1983 to 2016 is 33 active years. There is 396-months in 33-years. When this is multiplied with his assumed average monthly salary of N600,000 will give N237.6million. That is if he and his family had fasted for 33-years. That is if he has not been paying for rents and consumables for 396-months. No clothes. Again, that is if his children have not been paying school fees since their births. This is wowing? Yes! It must wow you.

From the above arithmetic, we assumed he has been paid off for the remaining months in this year. Which means, we have even given to him more than he has actually earned. With this projection of N237.6million, it might surprise you that this amount is not sufficient enough to buy the property in question from Dubai. This amount will not even buy a good house in Lekki or Ikoyi area of Lagos Island. It can only design two or three websites under Fashola — the former governor of Lagos State. That’s all.

I will only urge Nigerians to invite Gen. Buratai to teach us the saving magic he adopted to acquire such a huge property in Dubai. Nigeria needs his financial intelligence at a time like this when the economy of the country is in quagmire. He must be a genius! Also, President Buhari should nominate our dear General for the Guinness Book of award record as the Best Salary Saver of the Last Decades. He deserves it.
