Nigerian Pastors

It is no news that death is a necessary end for all men, but this year 2020 seems to be the year many Nigerian pastors have died. Early this month, precisely on July 3, 2020, two of God’s generals Pastor (Dr.) Richmond Leigh and Rev. Shola Mene Smart died in Warri. On the same day, these two spiritual iroko trees fell down.

The death that pains me the most is that of Rev. Shola Mene Smart. He died in his prime and at a time he should enjoy the fruit of his labour in the ministry. According to a source I spoke with, Rev. Shola was a young Itsekiri man from Koko, married and blessed with a daughter. His ministry located opposite Warri City Stadium has begun to grow, but unfortunately he died and went to be with the Lord in heaven. May his soul and that of Pastor Richmond rest in perfect peace.

Please always pray for pastors. They need to live long in order to carry out their divine assignment to the fullest. When pastors are dying like this, it is not a good thing for Christianity as their sheep may scatter.
