Adesanya-Davies Condemns APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket

A female presidential candidate of 2019, Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies has joined all well meaning Nigerians to condemn the APC’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, while she knocks MURIC Alhaji Ishaq Akintola over Alhaji Ahmed Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket for his Press release published by The General News on July 12, 2022, saying Ahmed Tinubu’s Muslim/Muslim APC Presidential Ticket is his business and CAN is simply hungry for power.

The “Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has addressed the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, over comments on the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Tinubu’s choice of Vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections, that his choice opposes Unity and Justice in Nigeria.

Further, MURIC in the statement by the group’s director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, accused CAN of heating up the polity with its comment on Tinubu’s choice of former Borno State Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima as running mate. Adding that, “Tinubu is under CAN’s hammer for picking a Muslim, Senator Kashim Shettima, as his vice-presidential candidate and Rev. John Hayab of Kaduna State chapter of the organization is the axe man for CAN.”

According to the MURIC, a Muslim becoming a president of Nigeria will not suit CAN’s agenda of Nigeria for Christ.
Akintola said, “CAN is simply hungry for power. We know CAN has been canvassing for a Christian running mate not for the benefit of Nigerians but for parochial ends.”

Adesanya-Davies says, the the MURIC is not only parochial but insular, noting that, “CAN is actually interested in a Christian as the next President of Nigeria by rotation after Buhari’s eight years Muslim ticket in power so as to skilfully end the killings of innocent Nigerians especially the Christians in Northern Nigeria for no reasons at all.

Detrimentally, MURIC said, “The idea is to milk the Christian vice presidential candidate if his party wins in the end by claiming that the Christian umbrella body fought for him. It is for political influence, contracts and for power. He advised CAN to form its own political party. Arguing that, “It is not written in the constitution that a candidate must not pick a running mate from his own religious group.

Adesanya-Davies knocks the MURIC, saying, he is a real chief Bandit. “Just listen to yourself, your reasoning and your mentality, I have never seen someone as petty, trivial and unreasonable as Alhaji Ishaq Akintola in my life, yet he tries to answer the title Professor! Anyway, it’s professor of Islamic studies and eschatology, which he claims to have studied at Al-Azhar University, Cairo, so one needs not be too bothered nor too surprised!

Listen up MURIC, your yelling and insult of CAN and support of the audacity of a Muslim-Muslim ticket despite the swelling scream and warning by Nigerians against Muslem-Muslem or Christian-Christian ticket, by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which, goes against the grains of equity, peace and unity in the country is terribly amusing.

Wake up MURIC and read another account:
1. Christians have a great number of political professionals who can stand to represent the needs of the people in government, so when they pick up some one among them, that means they value their vote and needs their participation.

2. Picking up Muslim/Muslim ticket, means they prefer Muslim experience better than that of Christians and have no ear to hear from the other religious groups ,and it’s very wrong to anybody’s perception. This was the past configuration of Presidents and Vice presidents since 1999:

3. Olusegun Obasanjo & Atiku Abubakar (1999-2007); Christian & Muslim Ticket.
4. Umaru Musa Yar’adua & Goodluck Jonathan (2007-2009); Muslim & Christian Ticket.
5. Goodluck Jonathan & Namadi Sambo (2011-2015) Christian & Muslim Ticket.
6. Atiku Abubakar & Peter Obi (2019) Muslim & Christian Ticket.
7. Atiku Abubakar & Ifeanyi Okowa (2022) Muslim & Christian Ticket.

PDP has never at anytime argued on religious or ethnic balancing in their tickets; while APC in 2015 started with the argument of Tinubu wanting to be vice to Buhari, while Buhari disagreed, Tinubu succumbed to presenting Christian Southerner to Buhari and Buhari picked Osibanjo.

Anybody supporting the political incorrectness of APC is not doing it for the development of this country but rather for his personal interest. And every well thinking Nigerian is fully aware of the current hardship and chao’s on going in the country.

For instance, this APC people met naira at N180 to a dollar and we were screaming, now they have made it N620 to a dollar and we are quiet because hunger has weaponized everyone to humility.

Adesanya-Davies concludes, MURIC certainly has a pathological condition, as I had always read from various comments by well meaning Nigerians whenever he writes.

To me, Lagosians and Yorubas should worry about Tinubu’s desperate move and Muslim/Muslim Ticket, as he wants to act like Afonja who sold Ilorin people to Fulani in my state, may I say “Over to you the electorate in 2023 presidential election!!!”

In a similar development, Babachir Lawal has warned Tinubu on Muslim-Muslim Ticket, saving Gadunje’s Foundation plans to convert Christians to Islam in a news report, on July 13, 2022. The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, has warned the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu against choosing a Muslim running mate.

Lawal, who accused Kano State governor, Abdullahi Gadunje of having a foundation that plans to convert Christians to Islam, alleged that the party’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket will give birth to a full Islamization agenda on Nigeria.

Babachir Lawal in AbaCityBlog reports that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, had on Sunday, unveiled Borno Senator, Kashim Shettima as his running mate against the clamour by Nigerians. Prior to the announcement, Ganduje, had disclosed that Tinubu would settle for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

He warned that Tinubu may be turned into an Islamic President if elected in 2023. The statement reads partly: “Proof of a possible Islamic agenda was leaked when Governor Ganduje, the ‘Kadmul Islam’, gave advance notice that Tinubu had assured them he would nominate a Muslem as his running mate.

“For those who might not know, Governor Ganduje has a foundation called “Ganduje Foundation” whose purpose, according to its website is to “provide selfless service to humanity and Islam” but whose primary purpose it appears is the conversion of Christians to Islam.”

“So if my very good friend Tinubu, in a desperate bid to become president, allows himself to be made into a religious bigot or even a mujahideen, he is welcome. But, were he to win and become President of Nigeria, it would be as a sectional president, an Islamic president, and he will surely face massive discontent and opposition even before taking off,” Babachir Lawal added.
