2023 Presidency: NSCEA Insist on no Muslim/Muslim ticket we stand!

“Christan North won’t Vote Tinubu Even If He Picked the Muslim Governor as His Running Mate” – Says Sani Mohammed

As the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria will be held in the first quarter of 2023 and campaign season officially open as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today September 28, 2022, Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA) still insists on, “On No Muslim/Muslim Presidential Ticket On Nigeria We Stand.”

So far, the major contenders for the 2023 presidency are: ex-Anambra governor Peter Obi, Labour Party (LP); ex-Lagos governor Bola Tinubu, All Progressives Congress (APC); ex-vice president Atiku Abubakar, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); and former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

All Nigerians believe that a tough race is in sight as the quartet boasts of their large fan base, qualifications, competence, character, ability, capacity and experience. However, NSCEA had directed earlier that, “The Church (All Christians), Should Cast One Vote In One Place, According to Their Faith, saying a categorical “No”, To A Muslim/Muslim Presidential Ticket, in Nigeria and Endorsing the Third Force – The Labour Party.”

We would recall that, “The All Progressives Party (APC) on June 11, 2022 was advised to settle for a Muslim-Christian ticket by Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA), reinstating the position of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) who had earlier warned the two leading political parties in the country to avoid the thought of Muslim/Muslim presidential ticket in 2023 to oust the Christian community in Nigeria.

Bishop Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, Secretary to the Elders’ Council had added, “On NO MUSLIM/MUSLIM TICKET in Nigeria NSCEA Stands! In fact, “To us at NSCEA, the choice of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku and Alhaji Bola Tinubu by the two oldest and largest parties is already a sort of a Muslim/Muslim ticket after President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight (8) years of Northern-Muslim ticket in power.”

Bishop Adesanya-Davies further stated, “A Muslim/Muslim ticket means the Christian side would suffer marginalization, oppression, and negative government influence, uneven distribution of wealth and resources, nepotism and socio-religious bias, etc, which is very unfair in the country. The body language of the nation will reflect Islam in another 8years, as it currently is now, and as such, we say No!

The MUSLIM/MUSLIM TICKET demonstrates a total disregard and disrespect of us Christians and all at NSCEA, and Christians would not be afraid to cast their votes in one place with the third force by adopting the Labour Party as a group.”

Or, “Is ISLAMIZATION Agenda synonymous with the APC’s definition of the term “Progressives”? NSCEA asks Alhaji Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Imagine, if Alhaji Tinubu cannot respect faith equilibrium before getting power, it is preposterous for anyone to think he will when he clinches the totalitarian presidency, for heaven’s sake???

Thus, following this wilful defiance, NSCEA therefore directs the Church (All Christians) to unanimously cast each and every (ALL) of their votes in one place for a single party, as we endorse the Labour Party (LP – The Third force).

NSCEA thus instructs that all Christians to cast One Vote in One Place. The Church should Vote According to Our Faith and on “NO MUSLIM/MUSLIM TICKET in Nigeria we stand!

This is in reaction to the choice of former Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, as the running mate of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. NSCEA says, “Christian Lives Matter in Nigeria!” Thus, “The Church Should Cast One Vote In One Place For The Third Force!”

The umbrella Christian Supreme Council insists that, “Christian Lives Matter in Nigeria, and no Muslim-Muslim ticket can again be used to embarrass or intimidate Christians in Nigeria at this point in time and at this period when Christians are seriously
being persecuted, kidnapped, slaughtered and massacred by Islamist Jihadists.”

Bishop Adesanya-Davies added, “While we believe that Islam in Nigeria has already collapsed under the Islamic Jihadists, the ticket is a slap on the face of peaceful Christians. We can assure APC that now that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has decided on Muslim-Muslim ticket, all Christians in Nigeria will walk away from his ticket as has been ascertained by the Northern Elders Forum, (NEF) leader, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the spokesman of NEF, saying, “Christians would walk away from his ticket in 2023.”

The Church shall vote according to our Faith. On NO MUSLIM/MUSLIM TICKET in Nigeria we stand by the grace of God after President Buhari’s eight-year tenure. We will cast all our votes in one place for the LABOUR PARTY (LP).”

She had further stated that, “The Muslim/Muslim Ticket has a NATIONAL BODY LANGUAGE that NIGERIA is an ISLAMIC STATE so the ISLAMIST TERRORISTS should feel FREE and be emboldened the more with their conquest.” Is ISLAMIZATION Agenda synonymous with the APC’s definition of the term “Progressives”? She asks Alhaji Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Alhaji Tinubu claims there are no Christians in the APC from the north who are “competent, capable and reliable!” to reflect the federal character. But he should be reminded, Nigeria is a multi-ethnic and multi-religious country and this threatens her unity. A Muslim President and Muslim VP would be a pointer to an islamized Nigeria.

We at NSCEA already have the proof of the meaning of APC “PROGRESSIVES”, it means “ISLAMIZATION”.
So far, so inconsiderate and terrible! This is the present configuration of top political position holders in APC:
1. APC National Chairman: MUSLIM
2. APC Presidential Candidate: MUSLIM
3. APC VP Candidate: MUSLIM
4. Current President for 8yrs: MUSLIM
5. Current Senate President for 8yrs: MUSLIM
6. Chief Justice of Nigeria for 8yrs: MUSLIM
7. IGP for 8yrs: MUSLIM
8. Chief of Army Staff for 8yrs: MUSLIM
9. DSS DG for 8 years: MUSLIM
10. Minister of defence for 8 years: MUSLIM
11. NSA for 8 years: MUSLIM
12. Speaker House of Representatives: MUSLIM
14. 80% of federal appointments in 8 years: MUSLIM, etc., etc., etc.

Bishop  Adesanya-Davies concludes, “APC has successfully escalated the issue of religion in Nigeria polity by refusing to yield to  our call for fairness and the balancing of the presidential ticket for the sake of justice, unity and fairness in the country. Every counsel on No Muslim/Muslim ticket to APC apparently fell on deaf ears!

Thus, NSCEA is strongly determined to sacrifice everything to protect the interest of the Church in Nigeria. We will not be moved by any form of intimidation, manipulation and Islamic and Islamist Agenda in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Christian politicians in the 19 Northern states within the APC have rejected the Muslim-Muslim ticket. The organisation, which comprises of Christian politicians in the 19 northern states within the APC, said, “They would not go against their conscience and faith, and go to their various constituencies to campaign for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Therefore the Coalition of Christians of Northern Extraction in the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned that the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the party for the 2023 general election will have serious and grave consequences.

The APC Chieftain of the organisation made its position known in a communique issued on Tuesday in Abuja after its meeting, which discussed the issues of the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket and the implications to the nation, signed by its Chairman, Prof. Doknan Sheni, and Secretary-General, Ishaya Bauka.

He added, “Considering that the Chairman of the party is a Muslim, Deputy Chairman – North, is a Muslim, the President of the Senate is a Muslim, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker are Muslims, and now both the Presidential and Vice-presidential candidates are Muslims and apart from this violating the constitution, section 14 subsection 3, if this was to be reversed that all these were Christians, can any Muslim in the North be able to sell the APC presidential ticket to any Muslim ummah?”

All should know that, “At this moment of national peril, what should be paramount in Nigeria is unity and not infrastructure or economy. For without unity, we cannot build. Any party or candidate that elevates the greed of a few above the needs of the many has no business running the affairs of Nigeria,” the coalition said.

Moreover, the AREWA Youth Forum (AYF) has slammed Tinubu over Muslim-Muslim ticket, saying, “Christan North won’t Vote Tinubu Even If He Picked the Muslim Governor as His Running Mate” – Says Sani Mohammed

Mohammed disclosed that the majority Christan and many Muslim North won’t vote for the APC Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima in the 2023 general elections.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday Evening while on a Sallah homage to North central zonal coordinator of Arewa youth council NMA ALFA at his house in Abuja , “I am sure we all have heard to the news that the ruling party at the Centra have adopted a Muslim-Muslim Presidential ticket despite the contemporary mood of the country insecurity and the disunity eating up our nation. This is to show that they don’t have Nigeria’s unity and progress at heart he stated”

According to Mohammed “Northern Nigeria would abandon their own son this time and go for a man with nationalist outlook as Obi-Ahemd ticket who as the capacity required to lead a new Nigeria for other then a fraud on the alter of nothing , on the alter of the APC that has failed to secure our lives and properties. The North can’t afford to have a repeat of another eight years of the APC administration.”

“Gentlemen, Obi-Ahmed has shown that their cares about the unity of Nigeria. Their are Nigerian and a core believer of Nigeria project of unity . I do not think that the North would trade that for any another waste . Trust me, even if Tinubu had picked (Sarkin Musulmi), he won’t get the overwhelming Northern votes because not just that Obi-Ahmed are on the ballot, they has the North’s interest at heart, which is to keep Nigeria united. Mohammed added;

In response, the zonal Coordinator north central in person of Nma Alfa , who served as the host, thanked Mohammed on behalf Arewa youth council leadership for the show of love to join others to celebrate Sallah. He gave the assurance that the group will work tirelessly to ensure that young people in the zone support and vote for capacity in the coming elections.

Thus, as election campaign in Nigeria officially starts today, educate your family, friend, co-worker and all individuals that does not understand, that they have the liberty, freedom and right of choice to use their voters card well.
