The complained that “Our male counter parts are now emboldened to drive on as if this is the right way. We call for justice, equity, good conscience, and fair play. Kindly reflect on the slogans – “Nothing about me without me”, “Leave no one behind.” It is by this inclusion, that it will be possible to rebuild a more sustainable and inclusive Nigeria of our dream.

Ahead of 2023 presidential election, the Presidential candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA), one of the Parties in Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, a formidable personality and candidate in 2019 presidential election and a current PDP Presidential aspirant hails, applauses and commends Dr. Angela C. Daniel and Lady Chikwue Ochiagha who wrote on behalf of the155-member Association of “NO WOMAN NO VOTE CAMPAIGN GROUP”, with recommendations.

Theirs is an organisation which spreads across all states, and local governments in Nigeria in order to entrench their advocacy of “NO WOMAN NO VOTE”, and I am so grateful. They wrote audaciously explaining that, “No one should ever doubt that a group of thoughtful committed women can change the world”. We do not need a rocket scientist to tell us that we are short-changing ourselves by continuing to use only 50% of our strength in pursuit of 100% goal – The men only.”

In fact, “Women perspectives are critical in the Economic, Education, Environmental, Social, and Political laws and policies that will impact on every sphere of the Nigerian polity. We also, do not need a soothsayer to explain to us that adequate women inclusion will improve the Nation’s GDP.

It is widely agreed that women are less corrupt. For instance, the exploit of Iyalode (women leader) of the old Oyo Empire in those days has remained the reference point on how political involvement of women can engender a free society. Women are good mediators in inter-ethnic rivalry. Women are change agents. Women farm and enterprise a lot as a means of providing for themselves and their wards.

Further, “The lists of the benefits are inexhaustible and undeniable.” Cheryl Benard said, “Gender equality and women’s inclusion play a central role both as a litmus test and as an active variable shaping a more democratic, stabilised and developed society”. They also opined that, “Nigeria is too slow to embrace this reality. It is time for Nigeria to recognise these critical facts and change the narrative.

“We dare to say again, that this position paper is driven purely and absolutely by the desire to advance the interest and aspirations of Nigeria in general. We have given careful consideration and deeply reflected on this advocacy.

The well-being of Nigeria should be paramount in the minds of every Nigerian, and to that extent we urge all political parties to make provision for 35% affirmation of positions to women at all levels namely, Senate, House of Representatives, House of Assembly, and LGA Councillors, as well as either Governor or Deputy Governor position in each state. We have chosen not to be complacent on this matter anymore because the current status will keep forcing decisions on us, even when records show that 85% of Nigerian voters are women. Enough is enough.

They admonish all, that “This agitation is not an end by itself but a means to secure glorious future for Nigeria and Nigerians; stating finally that, our second base will be massive campaign of no votes for political parties that will not accede to our 35% elective positions at all levels request. Let us all vote for political parties that fulfil the 35% mandate for the good of Nigeria, and all Nigerians. While the number of organisations joining the Coalition for this campaign keeps increasing, on behalf of the 155-member organisations spread across all states, and local governments in Nigeria, we crave your indulgence as we assure you of our highest regards always.

Thus, in agreement and to this intent, the Presidential candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) in the 2019 election, Prof. Mercy Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies (PMA) is the first to declare her intention as a lady academic politician, for 2023 election in December 2021. She has declared her interest to contest during the 2023 general election for the President of Nigeria under the platform of the PDP, urging all women to participate actively and give her their full support.

Adesanya-Davies said, “I will contest! I have a dream, that one day, a woman will emerge as the President of Nigeria, and the dream is now!!!Nigeria is Ripe for Female President!!! We, women need to try our best in 2023 at all levels. From now onwards, every woman should endeavour to speak to at least fifty women to vote for a woman President in Nigeria.

Please, tell five women daily from now till 2023 elections. Remember, Martin Luther King Jr. said, ‘Your happiness starts from you and not from someone else.’ So should all the Nigerian youth and all the ‘he for she’ and all the men campaign and vote for the first female president in Nigeria in 2023. This could and would be the only functional approach. The time is fast approaching. We the women can make it as posit by the : “NO WOMEN NO VOTE GROUP”. I say thank you to all Nigerian women both at home and in the diaspora for your co-operation. Kudos to all the #HeForShe advocates and activists that are leading this grassroots campaigns across Nigeria! I thank you all!
