Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Hon. Faisal Mohammed, the National President of GMMSG, emphasized the group’s role in galvanizing grassroots support to deliver on the 2.5 million votes promised by Governor Okpebholo for President Tinubu in 2027.

“We have seen what the governor is doing in this state, which is in line with the president’s desire for the people. We are very happy with him. This group is for everybody,” Mohammed said.

“The local government election is coming, and we want the APC to win every seat available.”

Also speaking at the event, the National Secretary of GMMSG, High Chief Patrick Chime, clarified that the group is exclusively for card-carrying members of the APC. He encouraged members to take the message of APC’s agenda to every corner of the state, adding that the revised APC constitution now formally recognizes support groups as part of the party structure.

In her remarks, Princess Omoyemwen Adeyinka-Afolabi, the State Coordinator of GMMSG in Edo, outlined the group’s mission, emphasizing its commitment to deepening democratic participation and development from the grassroots up.

“The vision of GMMSG is clear: to galvanise the strength of the people at the grassroots, to amplify their voices, and to ensure that no one is left behind in the democratic and developmental process,” she said.

“Our mission as the Edo State chapter is simple yet profound: to mobilise our people for greater participation in governance, foster unity across communities and local governments, support credible leadership that prioritises the welfare of the masses, and champion causes that promote social justice, equity, and development at the grassroots.”

Highlighting the importance of grassroots engagement, she concluded:

“We recognise that true power resides in the people, and that the grassroots are the foundation of every thriving democracy. It is from the villages, towns, and local communities that strength flows into the larger system.”

The group pledged to begin mobilization immediately through local government coordinators across Edo State, signaling the start of a statewide grassroots campaign in preparation for the 2027 elections.
