2027 Election Will Be a Landslide for APC in Enugu, Says Udeh-Okoye
Former PDP National Secretary Sunday Udeh-Okoye predicts a landslide APC victory in Enugu during the 2027 elections, saying Peter Obi’s influence and the Obidient movement cannot stop the ruling party’s dominance in the Southeast.
Former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sunday Udeh-Okoye, has expressed strong confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will record a landslide victory in Enugu State during the 2027 presidential election, following a wave of defections from the PDP to the ruling party.
Udeh-Okoye, who recently defected from the PDP to the APC, said the political landscape in Enugu has shifted decisively in favour of the APC.
“In the next election, it will be a landslide for the APC in Enugu,” he declared.
When asked if the APC could still win the presidential election in Enugu should Peter Obi appear on the ballot, the former PDP stalwart insisted that the ruling party would triumph “no matter who is on the ballot.”
According to him, the APC has now taken over the entire PDP structure in Enugu State, adding that Obi’s Labour Party and the Obidient movement will not stop the APC’s momentum ahead of 2027.
“Those who won elections for the party at that moment — we were not in APC. Now all of us are in APC. Anybody you like, field in any political party; I assure you, in Enugu State, APC will win,” he stressed.
Udeh-Okoye dismissed claims that Southeasterners would not vote for the APC, saying the perception of hostility toward the ruling party was largely due to former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. He noted that with Governor Peter Mbah’s recent defection to the APC, the region is gradually warming up to the ruling party.
He praised Governor Mbah for what he described as “visible development and delivery on campaign promises,” asserting that Enugu State now has enough campaign material to consolidate APC’s growing popularity.
With Mbah’s move, three out of the five states in the Southeast — Imo, Ebonyi, and Enugu — are now governed by the APC, while Abia and Anambra remain under the Labour Party and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) respectively.
Udeh-Okoye further hinted that another Southeast state may soon join the APC, though he declined to reveal which one.
When asked which of the two remaining non-APC states might switch sides, he simply said, “I don’t know.”
