2027: I’m Better Prepared to Lead Nigeria — Peter Obi
Peter Obi declares he is best prepared to tackle Nigeria’s economic and security challenges in the 2027 elections, emphasizing experience in business and calling for peaceful engagement among supporters.
Former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has declared that he is better equipped to tackle Nigeria’s economic and security challenges ahead of the 2027 elections.
Obi said none of the current aspirants for the 2027 presidency can claim to have started, managed, and grown a small business into a large corporation as he has.
He made the remarks during an interactive X Space session with a cross-section of Nigerians yesterday, emphasizing that fixing the economy is key to addressing the country’s security issues, as the two are closely connected.
“I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and have more experience than any candidate, including the sitting President. I’m a finance person. I know how to manage finance,” Obi said.
The former Anambra State governor added that, under his leadership, small businesses and manufacturers would thrive, noting that they are the backbone of the economy in developed nations.
Obi dismissed speculation that he is joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition to become a running mate for a presidential contender. “I will be on the ballot in 2027,” he affirmed.
He also urged his supporters to avoid violence or trading insults with opponents, even if provoked. This plea came after an “Obidient” from Akwa Ibom State expressed concerns about insults from some ADC leaders.
Obi affirmed his support for the coalition, stating that he has been involved since its early days. “None of us can predict tomorrow. Let us enter the coalition with an open mind. We can’t solve the problems of Nigeria by bullying. We can solve it by putting the right people to manage our affairs. Tomorrow is dynamic, we are going to work with other people in the coalition,” he said.
On personal attacks, Obi added: “All the insults do not bother me. If calling me stupid or idiot will solve Nigeria’s problems, I’m ready to go to court and change my name to ‘Obi Stupid.’”
He further encouraged his supporters to counter falsehoods with the truth, pray for those who abuse them, and engage opponents in healthy debates to explain his position.
