2027: Olawepo-Hashim Supporters Challenge Tinubu, Say APC Era Ending in South West

The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) has declared that APC’s dominance in the South West may soon end, as supporters rally in Osun for 2027, vowing to back Olawepo-Hashim against Tinubu’s government.

The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) has openly challenged President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South West, declaring that the party’s dominance in the region could be coming to an end ahead of the 2027 general elections.

At a weekend rally in Osogbo, Osun State, GHSM leaders drawn from all 31 Local Government Areas, alongside community representatives, youths, and party executives, gathered to express their dissatisfaction with the current government while presenting former presidential aspirant Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as a viable alternative.

Olawepo-Hashim, who contested the 2019 presidential election on the People’s Trust platform before later joining the PDP, has consistently cast himself as a reform-driven politician. His supporters argue that his political and business experience, coupled with a reputation for integrity, positions him as a strong contender in 2027, especially since the PDP has kept its presidential ticket open.

Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Mr. Kamaldeen Adebayo, Olawepo-Hashim criticised the Federal Government, saying:
“This government has bled the people enough. Gbenga Hashim’s mission is to restore dignity, justice and accountability to governance. Nigeria’s democracy cannot breathe under corruption and mediocrity. It is time to take back our country.”

The National Coordinator of GHSM, Abdulrazaq Hamzat, also condemned the worsening living conditions in the country.
“Hunger has become a national policy, insecurity a daily horror, and hopelessness a state religion. Gbenga Hashim is ready to lead the crusade out of this wilderness,” he declared.

South West Coordinator, Alhaji Abass Olaniyi, faulted Tinubu’s leadership for favouring elites over the masses.
“This administration has reduced governance to the service of a few privileged interests, while the people wallow in poverty. From Osun, this movement will spread across the South West,” he said.

The Osun State Coordinator, Hon. Tajudeen Hassan, urged members to intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.
“Take the gospel of Gbenga Hashim to every street, every household, every corner of Osun. Nobody must be left behind. This is the people’s movement, and 2027 is our date with destiny,” he charged.

GHSM, active across Lagos, Oyo, Ekiti, and Ondo States, welcomed the PDP’s decision to keep its 2027 presidential ticket open, describing it as an opportunity for Olawepo-Hashim to contest.

Speakers at the rally noted that Osun may have set the stage for an organised pushback against APC’s dominance in the South West — a region widely seen as Tinubu’s stronghold. They added that inflation, unemployment, and insecurity were driving growing discontent.

“Osun has fired the first shot. If the momentum continues, it could signal the beginning of a wider political storm in the South West,” they warned.
