A Wake Up Call To My Fellow Nigerians; Fix Politics, Fix Nigeria -By Thomas Moses Bognet

In Nigeria, life is hard, full of violence and an enormous struggle to survive. It’s enough to drive a good man mad but I believe there can be a new Nigeria and a new world for everyone where we co-exist in peace, without religious bigotry and corruption. But more importantly in prosperity; ending and beginning are just a constructs of an imprisoned mind. We need to transform from being selfish to selfless. We all feel we are conditioned by the society to do things, but somewhere deep within us, there is a curious bit of code of conduct (conscience) wondering is that all we are?

Holding on to who we think we are, in self-meditation, it’s a great comfort. We know our struggles; we know the pain of being unloved, poverty, hunger, and war. We know that our path lies in helping others. We can create a newer and better version of who we are, open to all of life’s wonders and possibilities. Finding strength we didn’t know we had, peace where before there was chaos. We just have to be willing to get out of our rooms when the chance arrives, and let go of some things and characters we didn’t think we could live without. Figuring out who we are and what we need may take time for some and lots more than others. But we all will get there sooner or later and have a better Nigeria.

Is this what our nationalist fought our colonial masters to have as Nigeria today? We can’t walk away from our dear father land, home sweet home! amidst the everyday cries of pains, killings, kidnappings and violence, we have sat and watched for a long time as our country is been led by our dubious leaders and for over 50 years has been in a stagnant position on the long road to freedom. They always come with their fallacious propagandas telling us not to worry because they are here to bring the change we need and take us to a higher, better and next level, but instead we find ourselves reversing back through the road we’ve passed. They have brought our great warriors and, protectors, and hoodlums to kill and slaughter us in our own lands because we are fighting for our civil and legal rights apart from the wars of hunger and poverty they have given us.

We call on all our brothers and sisters in the distant lands to stand up with us on this courageous and bold step we are about to take to make the wrongs right, and fix our society, government, politics, security agencies, and religious stereotypes etc. we want a better Nigeria where we can raise our children and give them hopes of been the leaders of tomorrow and it can come to actualization. We need not to wait for foreigners to come and help us move forward while we just sit and cowry around giving ourselves false hopes that it’s going to be better. We need to examine ourselves because change begins with me, then you, and so, we need to sit and meditate and examine our lives because it is been said that an unexamined life is not worth living but I believe Nigeria is worth dying for. if not for anything, at least, for the future of our children.
