A Year In Office, Of Praise Or Blame -By Abdulganiyu Abdulrahman Akanbi
A project reaching a community where hosts of communities are left unreached can’t be counted as a development.

In a twinkle of eyes and within jiffy minutes, 365 days which equates to a year of the current Kwara State Governor has expired. The question of when did electorates voted for A A has shaped the mouth of the people. Unsurprisingly, the time will come and it will surely pass. Life is not constant, it keeps moving. People are counting and the remaining years will certainly be counted out.
Undoubtedly, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq emerged as the twentieth Governor of Kwara State on the 29th of May, 2019. He was elected based on some crucial expectations tabled in front of him by the citizens. Promises made during the campaign also got the attention of the electorate during the election time. The dilapidated sectors of the state in which corruption has eaten their nooks and cronies as claimed by the inhabitants of the state were the first reason before the change in government factor, to voted the past administration out and voted him in. Have the expected changes have brought to the ground by the incumbent government?
Series of answers has trooped the media spaces. Accolades, respects, and kudos are credited to the present Government of Kwara state because of the visible developments witnessed by the state while on the other hand, some bemoan the administration of the current Government of the State due to the poor states of the different sectors of the state. Thankfully, both parties centered their comments on development on progress. The former praised and commended the government while the latter sprayed faulty comments and thrown blemish stones on the Government.
I don’t have any mark to score the Governor neither did I have a certain percentage to rank his administration. This is a matter of fact and certainty. The government is trying in some aspect while he fails in another dimension. Those who got an appointment during his tenure will render praises on him but those who were sacked and got dismissed from work in his reign will send him nothing than disparagement greetings. The former will shows appreciation while the latter will showcases depreciation. Truly, this matter is of two sides. The one you are looking at maybe positive while the side he is looking at may look negative. For example, write the number (9) down and have a look at it from the back and the front, you will get different results. That’s how this is.
Factually, the achievements of the Governor in this short time of a year may be numerous in some sights. But in general insight, they are few. Let me be explicit enough here. A project reaching a community where hosts of communities are left unreached can’t be counted as a development. In furtherance, in a situation where a few are succeeding while enormous numbers of people are still suffering cannot be referred to as development.
In a flashback, as I said earlier, people are of the high expectations from the government more than the attention paid by the government to those areas. Believe me, there are loads of hopes and request from the citizen which the government has shown no recognition to. The trust people put in for this government cannot be overemphasized. Although, this is just a year in office not the whole term still a year is not equal to a day
Towards the conclusion, I would like to send my congratulatory messages to the Governor wishing him a successful ending on this seat of power.
As a patriotic citizen, who writes for the progress and development of the state, I would like to implore the Kwara State Government to pay listening ears to the clamour of people, heed to advice, come to the aids of people and give adequate consideration to their request. Remember, no human flesh is free from flaws. So, realise your loopholes and shortcomings and correct them politely. I will remind you not to forget that one who has a successful ending will only be given accolades and paid respect to.
