Abba Kyari: What Makes A Super Cop In A Monster Hunter -By Richard Odusanya

As a political operative in the inglorious era of Olusegun Obasanjo, I saw it from close distance. I saw through all the shenanigans, scheming and what not; I noticed so many things pointing to the wrong direction; I was at the epic center of the game, as can be attested to by my friend and brother Mallam Garba Shehu.

Supper Cop DCP. Abba Kyari

God Almighty knows I have never one day trusted Abba Kyari a supposedly super cop, I have always trend on the part of caution when I see people being hyped and celebrated with falsehoods intentions, is it the criminalities, the bribe taking of a billionaire police officer, or extra judicial killings, that goes on without consequences, like the October, 20, 2020? With the benefits of hindsight and my background as a political operative who saw it at the very top played out with nebulosity, it will be difficult for me to be carried away. A classic example was the then celebrated EFCC pioneer chairman Nuhu Ribadu, a personal friend, fine and accomplished personality.

Nuhu Ribadu and I got reasonably close about a year or so, before he became the pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), the friendship was consummated by our mutual friend, compol Biodun Odude, another fantastic personality, an officer and a gentleman, cerebral and intellectually mobile. Both of them enlisted in the police force same day in 1986 at the Ikeja training school. Biodun Odude also served as a director at the commission (EFCC), among others before his glorious retirement from meritorious service very recently. As at then Nuhu Ribadu was an assistant commissioner of police, even though he resides at the AIG’S quarters.

We visited each other frequently, and exchange ideas, the proximity of our residence was of an added advantage for both parties; while he resides at the AIG’s quarters, mine was the famous defense house Maitama Abuja; the friendship was further strengthened by another mutual friend of ours, a handsome detribalized kanuri-man Waziri Mohammed of the blessed memory, who also was heading a similar commission then. For the above reasons, I will always be the last person to be carried away with the fallacies, self-righteousness, glorification, aggrandizement, that is usually targeted at hoodwinking the gullible lots.

On a particular day, yours truly, Iyabo Obasanjo and Adinoyi Ojo Onukapba of the blessed memory, in a flight on our way to attend the wedding ceremony for the then vice president Atiku ABUBAKAR’s first son Adamu, in Yola. The three of us discussed extensively and raised serious concerns about the palace jesters promoting the larger than life image of Obasanjo and promising to make him what he will never become, “the second African Mugabe”

Similarly, the then ADC to the president, Brig-Gen Solomon Giwa-Amu, of the blessed memory, another fine gentleman and who then as a very discipline military officer, was very concerned about the activities of the palace jesters promoting the the larger than life image of Obasanjo and promising to pull through with the criminality of tenor elongation Third term agenda. Solomon Giwa-Amu of the blessed memory often time talked about the bad precedence and legacy, he expressed very serious concerns, before he eventually got a deserved posting to New York as defense attaché.

In the same vein, I also confronted Nuhu in the presence of our mutual friend late Waziri Mohammed when we met at the penal apartment wuse Abuja. I pointedly told him that Obasanjo will use and the commission EFCC to rubbish his political opponents, in particular the person of his vice president Atiku ABUBAKAR, it eventually happened.

Please permit me to continue with the echoes from Atlanta: “….I, have an abiding suspicious of people who are given to gratuitous self-congratulation an ostentatious lifestyle. Who are aggressively self-promotional and who perpetually have a need to invite attention to witness their good deeds.”- Prof Farooq Kperogi voice from Atlanta

I also shared in the sentiments of the author, I have the same mindset with prof Farooq kperogi. From my personal experience and observation, these sets of human could just be being doing well in a society like ours that produces a lot of dumbbells and people who are essentially clueless about matters that is generated for the purpose of tomfoolery. Such people also hid behind religion to achieve a set goal, hoodwinked and bamboozled gullible masses.

Back to the issues of the so called super cop DCP Abba Kyari, I was really embarrassed seeing a sheriff, openly and shamefully identifying with questionable characters without any consequences from the force headquarters or the government that pride itself with fighting criminality and corruption. It took the Americans once again to burst their bubble. This is a very serious indictment on the person of Maj Gen Muhammadu Buhari RTD taunted or hyped Integrity.

As I pen these painstaking effort partly to educate ourselves and reduce the level of gullibility of our compatriots across board; I am greatly pained; my heart is troubled; I feel sorry for the generations coming behind; I was really ashamed for as many that are defending criminality for the sake of pecuniary benefits, religious or tribal sentiments. Honestly, one NIGERIA is a sham.
