A passenger train travelling from Abuja to Kaduna derailed on Tuesday morning, leaving several coaches toppled and passengers stranded in a chaotic scene.

The incident occurred near Asham, shortly after the train departed Abuja at 9:45 a.m.

Eyewitnesses reported scenes of panic and confusion as frightened passengers scrambled for safety in the immediate aftermath of the derailment. “It was terrifying—people were shouting and trying to get out as fast as they could,” one passenger recounted.

The exact cause of the derailment remains unknown. As of now, there have been no official reports confirming injuries or fatalities.

Military personnel were quickly deployed to the scene to assist with the evacuation of stranded passengers and help restore order.
