Gunmen have killed an Abuja-based veterinary doctor and former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT chapter, Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, and abducted his three children.

The attack occurred Friday night when the assailants stormed Ogbu’s residence in the Kubwa district, along the Kubwa–Kaduna road. He was taken away with his children, but his body was later discovered by the roadside.

The death was confirmed by Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu in a Facebook post, where he wrote:
“Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa Abuja, was found dead. The three children are yet to be released. May God please intervene.”

Ogbu, described by colleagues as a dedicated professional, leaves behind a nursing wife and a grieving family. Friends and associates have expressed shock, calling his death a devastating loss to both his family and the veterinary profession.

The incident comes barely a week after the killing of Arise TV journalist, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, during a robbery in Katampe, another part of Abuja.

The FCT Police Command has not released an official statement. Calls and messages to the command reportedly went unanswered, though investigations are said to be ongoing.
