Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi has won the 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award after a record-breaking season with PSG, securing four major trophies and earning top spots in UEFA and Ligue 1 Teams of the Season.
Moroccan football star Achraf Hakimi has been crowned the 2025 CAF Men’s Player of the Year, marking his first time winning Africa’s most prestigious individual football award.
The Paris Saint-Germain defender was chosen by a panel of experts and top African football journalists, emerging as the clear favourite after an extraordinary season for both club and country.
Hakimi’s remarkable year with PSG saw him help the French giants secure four major trophies: Ligue 1, the UEFA Champions League, the Coupe de France, and the Trophée des Champions. His outstanding form also earned him sixth place in the 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings.
Across more than 3,400 minutes played in all competitions, the 27-year-old contributed significantly on both ends of the pitch—recording 6 goals and 4 assists in Ligue 1, and 5 goals with 4 assists in the Champions League—while helping the team register 10 clean sheets.
His consistency and impact earned him places in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season, the Ligue 1 Team of the Season, and the CAF Team of the Year.
Hakimi edged out fellow finalists Mohamed Salah of Egypt and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen to claim the award, solidifying his standing as one of Africa’s premier football talents.
