The Adamawa State Police Command says it has arrested 72 suspects for various crimes committed between July and September 2025.

Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, disclosed this at a press briefing in Yola on Friday. According to him, 57 of the suspects have already been charged to court, while 15 others remain under investigation.

He explained that the arrests were made possible through coordinated efforts involving the Anti-Kidnapping Crack Squad, Intelligence Units, Tactical Squad, Area Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers.

The offences listed include kidnapping, robbery, culpable homicide, theft, abduction, rape, and other sexual offences.

Dankombo added that police operatives also recovered 15 illicit firearms, including AK-47 rifles and locally made pistols, along with 111 rounds of ammunition, seven vehicles, and 25 rustled cattle, which were returned to their rightful owners.

He cautioned officers against meddling in civil disputes, stressing that the Police Act 2020 prohibits involvement in debt recovery, tenancy issues, contractual disagreements, or family matters. “Any deviation from this will attract serious consequences,” he warned.

On rape cases, Dankombo urged members of the public to testify in court to help survivors secure justice. “Without evidence, such cases may not be easy to prosecute successfully,” he said.
