Adesanya-Davies commends “Nigerian Youth Decides” Debates
The Nigerian students thus expressed their support for the presidential ambition of the nation’s female presidential aspirant, Prof. Olufunmilayo Adesanya- Davies in 2019. The Niger Delta Students Union Government (NDSUG) also endorsed the aspiration of Adesanya-Davies, as President in 2019.

A frontline female politician activist, university Don and Presidential candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA) in 2019, Funmilayo Adesanya–Davies commends “Nigerian Youth Decides” on their Debates strides and recommends the platform to 2023 Presidential Candidates. “I had attended the debate they organised in 2019 for Presidential Candidates, and it was worth its while, commendable and memorable,” she recalls. The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) had endorsed the Presidential ambition of Funmilayo Adesanya–Davies Adesanya- Davies in 2019 when she contested election.
The 2023 Nigerian presidential election will be held on 25 February 2023 to elect the president and vice president of Nigeria. Incumbent APC President Muhammadu Buhari is term-limited, he is ineligible to run, and cannot seek re-election for a third term.
With the commencement of campaigns for the 2023 elections by political parties,
Nigerian Youths gathers and rallies for 2023 presidential debate, insisting it is compulsory as major candidates are being invited and promise to attend the Debate on 10th December, 2022.
Mr. Paul Uchechukwu Ekpere and executives of the various national youth oriented organisations in Nigeria under the Nigerian Youth Decide platform gathered in Abuja, the country’s capital in solidarity rally to remind the national elective seeking personalities (presidential candidates) to attend the youth debates.
Speaking at the venue, from the Untiy Peace Fountain, Mr Uchechukwu, President Diamond Youths who also took part in the rally, said,
“Our youths have to be decided, we chant the enough is enough mantra, asking and kindly requesting all important Presidential Candidates to partake and participate in the coming youth’s debate even as the majority has already indicated their interest in the particiaption”.
“I am calling on all meaniful youths, women, leaders and those seeking elective offices to know that every vote counts and every candidate matters,” he added.
Nigeria’s former Presidential candidates and aspirants had recently met in Abuja where they called on the government to mobilise and include the youths in the country’s governance and leadership. The meeting with stakeholders was led by a former Presidential Candidate in 2019 and a national party in the centre’s presidential Aspirant in 2023, Dr. Nicholas.
Youth’s and women’s representation in Nigeria’s Parliament, is at a lower percentage most recognised among the women at 4%.
Adding voice speaking on attending the debate, an Abuja and nationally recognised leader, Digital Imam, said “the debate is a way for the candidate to really feel and interact with the Nation’s youths who makes more than 60 percent of the population and even higher in the voting blocks.”
Nigeria has seen an increase in the number of youths and women in their quest to participate in the elections and vote more than ever before and according to INEC more than 10 million of the newly registered voters are youths.
The umbrella body of the nation’s students’ unions- National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has also honoured Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies with its most Outstanding Leadership Award of the year 2018.
According to a letter sent to the presidential hopeful by NANS, the Award is an Award of Excellence in Service and Outstanding Leadership, pointing out that the Award was in recognition of her invaluable contributions to youth empowerment, excellence in service and outstanding leadership over the years.

The Nigerian youth debates is now scheduled to take place on the 10th December, 2022 in Abuja at the Merit House.
