AFCON 2025: Super Eagles Captain Ndidi Suspended for Morocco Semi-Final
Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi will miss Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 semi-final clash against Morocco after picking up his second yellow card of the tournament.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles will be without their captain, Wilfred Ndidi, when they face Morocco in the semi-finals of the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after the midfielder was ruled out through suspension.
Ndidi incurred his second yellow card of the tournament during Nigeria’s 2–0 quarter-final win over Algeria on Saturday, automatically earning a one-match ban.
The Leicester City midfielder had earlier been cautioned in the group-stage victory over Mozambique, leaving him just one booking away from suspension heading into the knockout rounds.
While Ndidi was on the AFCON disciplinary watchlist alongside Calvin Bassey and Frank Onyeka, he was the only member of the trio to be booked again in the clash against the Desert Foxes.
His suspension means he will miss the crucial semi-final showdown with Morocco. However, Ndidi is expected to be available for selection in either the final or the third-place playoff, depending on how the Super Eagles fare in the last-four encounter.
