Cameroon vs Burkina Faso

Despite missing the 2019 AFCON, Burkina Faso’s Stallions in the last four editions have been closer to winning the title.

In 2013, the team lost 1-0 to Nigeria in the final, crashed out in the group stage in the 2015 edition, and reached the semifinals of the 2017 and 2019 editions.

Burkina Faso’s performance at the AFCON has been quite impressive, featuring former stars such as Aristide Bance, Jonathan Pitroipa, and Charles Kabore, among others.

Coach

Hubert Velud has had a bittersweet story of coaching on the continent, having previously led the Togolese and Sudanese national teams.

With the stories behind him, the 64-year-old, known for his attacking style of play “based on intensity, aggressive pressing, and bags of energy,” has stated he’s ready to end Burkina Faso’s drought by winning the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
