Mohamed Salah experienced another difficult outing in the Premier League as Liverpool suffered a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield, adding to his challenging start to the season.

The Egyptian forward has scored just four league goals so far, with his most recent coming in the win over Aston Villa on November 1.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland continues to lead the Golden Boot race with 14 goals, while the highest-scoring African in the Premier League is Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo with six.

Below are standout African performers across Europe’s top leagues, as highlighted by AFP Sport:

ENGLAND

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

The 33-year-old, who won last season’s Premier League Golden Boot with 29 goals, has struggled to replicate that form this term. Liverpool’s loss to Forest leaves them 11th after 12 matches, with six defeats already.

Samuel Chukwueze (Fulham)

Chukwueze came off the bench to deliver a precise cross that set up Raul Jimenez’s 84th-minute winner in Fulham’s 1-0 victory over Sunderland. Fellow Nigerians Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi also started for the Cottagers.

Lyle Foster, Hannibal Mejbri (Burnley)

Burnley manager Scott Parker introduced Foster and Mejbri as substitutes while trailing 1-0 to Chelsea. Despite the change, Burnley conceded again late on, as Chelsea solidified their second-place position behind Arsenal.

GERMANY

Nicolas Jackson (Bayern Munich)

Senegal’s Nicolas Jackson, on loan from Chelsea, scored in Bayern’s dramatic 6-2 comeback win over Freiburg. After going 2-0 down, Bayern roared back with six unanswered goals. Jackson netted the fifth in the 78th minute, marking his second league goal and fourth overall.

Edmond Tapsoba (Bayer Leverkusen)

Burkina Faso defender Tapsoba continued his strong scoring run, notching his third goal in seven games during Leverkusen’s 3-1 win at Wolfsburg. He headed home a cross in the 24th minute to double the lead.

FRANCE

Ismaelo Ganiou, Morgan Guilavogui (Lens)

Ganiou scored the decisive second-half goal in Lens’ 1-0 win over Strasbourg, lifting them to third in Ligue 1, two points behind PSG. Guilavogui, who came on as a substitute, was later sent off in added time for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Marseille)

Aubameyang responded to Gabon’s World Cup qualifying disappointment by scoring the opener in Marseille’s 5-1 demolition of Nice. Marseille now sit second, ahead of Lens on goal difference.

Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal (Rennes)

The Moroccan defender struck after 20 minutes to set Rennes on course for a 4-1 win over Monaco. The victory moved Rennes to sixth, one point and two places above Monaco.
