Everyone with his or her dealings to cater for, family background I will say mostly contribute to the rate in which you make it in the outside world, away from the confined of university. Often, I do hear people say, family background plays just little or it doesn’t add value in the outside world rather your certificates will speak for you. In as much as I will propagate you pursuing excellent grades in higher institutions, endeavor to have a fast track of your circle, the company you keep in university will go along way to redefined you after university, giving Nigeria as a case study, you don’t get to soak in academic and negate that human relation, no successful people out there without efficient and effective management of human relation.

One of my guys told me something today that I’ve to pound about. He said his mother called him telling him how she saw the numerous awards and tons of academic certificates he collected during university days and she wondered why he’s not getting a befitting job or recognition. Though, he said he doesn’t show his mother those awards cos of not wanting to get her hope high but unfortunately his mother saw it and learnt the reason behind those awards and kind of felt pity for him. So, that’s life, we’ve people with no academic feat but making it big outside based on family influence, the guy later told me that he knew what he should ventured in assuming enough resources are available at his disposal, the nation is all about your financial prowess and men of authority you’ve within your circle, when I ask him why can’t him pursue his master degree giving his excellent grade? he told me finance is the constraint and most people around seem to have their cup filled with responsibilities and dare not bring the issue of pursuing Master and further affirmed he would have loved that idea but we all know that ideas with no financial backing will soon go the drain.

We really spoke that we get emotion entangled and I felt that this my guy was at the verge of breaking having being exposed to the hash truth reality of life.

Though, I later assured him that his grade will never be a barrier to what belongs to him. At such, determination should dominate his being, work diligently and never loses hope based on what is happening and making it big should be his watchword, he shouldn’t be defeated now. We should all know that life in the university is quite different from the outside world, pursuing good grade won’t be bad, in fact don’t be sway away by people who believes grade doesn’t count especially if your family is not buoyant enough but endeavor to add that touch of human relation, relate with all on natural level while you hope for the best. You’ve got no backing but God will definitely set things right.
