New Wide-Body Jet to Boost Operations to Europe, South America, and the Caribbean

Air Peace has officially welcomed its fourth Boeing 777 aircraft, a strategic addition aimed at accelerating the airline’s intercontinental expansion. The development solidifies Air Peace’s position as Nigeria’s largest carrier and reinforces its long-haul ambitions across multiple global destinations.

Aircraft Touches Down in Lagos with Ceremonial Welcome

In a statement released on Saturday, the airline confirmed that the newly acquired Boeing 777-200ER, registered as 5N-CEG, landed at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 3:32 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, arriving from Teruel, Spain.

“The aircraft was greeted with a traditional water-cannon salute and a rousing reception led by the airline’s chairman, Allen Onyema; Executive Director, Obinna Onyema; Chief Operating Officer, Oluwatoyin Olajide; alongside members of Air Peace’s management team,” the statement read.

New Aircraft Configured for Comfort and Capacity

The new Boeing 777 is configured with 312 seats, comprising 26 Business Class and 286 Economy seats. The aircraft features modern inflight amenities, with private ambient seating in Business Class and enhanced legroom and service in Economy.

Air Peace spokesperson Efe Osifo-Whiskey stated that the aircraft’s arrival aligns with the airline’s strategic vision:

“The arrival of the state-of-the-art aircraft aligns with Air Peace’s vision of global connectivity.”

First Flights to London Set for October Launch

Air Peace Chairman Allen Onyema described the acquisition as a critical point in the airline’s development:

“This is a pivotal milestone in the airline’s growth trajectory. It represents a decisive step in Air Peace’s expansion strategy.”

Onyema revealed that the aircraft will be deployed in the next two months for inaugural long-haul flights from Abuja to London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

More Routes on the Horizon: Europe, Brazil, and the Caribbean

Beyond London, Air Peace is eyeing further expansion into key European cities, South America, and the Caribbean. The airline is planning direct flights to São Paulo, Brazil, and building on its pioneering services into Antigua and Barbuda, as well as St. Kitts and Nevis.

“Further plans include opening new routes into key European cities, South America, particularly direct flights to Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the Caribbean,” Onyema said.

Air Peace Pledges to Tackle High Fares, Boost Access for Nigerians

Onyema emphasized Air Peace’s mission to democratize international travel for Nigerians:

“We are committed to offering Nigerians fair and affordable access to international travel while curbing the high fares long endured by passengers on foreign carriers.”

Call for Aviation Infrastructure Overhaul

However, Onyema also called attention to the pressing need for better aviation infrastructure within Nigeria:

“There is an urgent need for an efficient hub system in Nigeria to enhance both regional and international connectivity.”

Gratitude to Government for Supporting Indigenous Aviation

Expressing appreciation for government support, Onyema said:

“We are grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support of indigenous airlines through policies that create an enabling environment for growth.”

He also praised the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Senator Festus Keyamo, for his efforts in empowering local carriers:

“We commend Senator Festus Keyamo for implementing inclusive measures that position Nigerian carriers to compete effectively on the global stage.”
