Allen Onyema: Aviation Key to Cutting Trade Costs, Driving Nigeria-UK Prosperity
Air Peace Chairman Allen Onyema says aviation is vital to lowering trade costs, boosting tourism, and driving Nigeria-UK bilateral growth. He praised President Tinubu’s support as Air Peace joins the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce.
Chairman of Air Peace, Nigeria’s largest airline, Allen Onyema, has stressed that aviation plays a pivotal role in reducing trade costs, promoting tourism, strengthening people-to-people connections, and unlocking opportunities for bilateral prosperity.
Onyema also praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its strong support of domestic airlines, noting that government intervention has been critical in ensuring fair opportunities for Nigerian operators.
He made these remarks as Air Peace was formally inducted into the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) during the Chamber’s Quarterly Members’ Evening and Induction Ceremony, themed “Trade Without Borders: Aviation as a Catalyst for Bilateral Growth between Nigeria and the UK,” held in Lagos.
“President Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation did everything possible to support us. The President even warned that if Air Peace was denied entry rights, there would be consequences. That bold stance made all the difference,” Onyema said.
NBCC President and Chairman of Council, Prince Abimbola Olashore, commended Air Peace for “challenging the status quo in global aviation and redefining Nigeria’s trade links with the UK.” He described the airline’s induction into the chamber as “timely and significant for expanding mutual prosperity.”
Chairman of the NBCC Membership Committee, Dr. Nnamdi Okonkwo, added: “Air Peace’s story is one of resilience, innovation, and deep faith in Nigeria. Their induction into the NBCC only reinforces the Chamber’s commitment to fostering enterprises that transform bilateral trade.”
