An Open Letter To The House Of Reps Member; Memoranda For The Submission Of Opinions On Constitution Amendment -By Kareem Itunu Azeez

I start this letter on a sad note, of which it is a reflection of what today looks like for an average Nigerian.

A democracy like ours, crawling as it may seem, there is seems to be an opportunity for the people to input another direction which they prefer to be governed through the opinion of the people as it pertains to the constitution amendment, and yet such chances are not even open to all and sundry. But a good lawmaker representing his/her people should know better by making such news go round, but it won’t because it isn’t some empowerment program for some self praise.

The memorandum for opinion from the public on the constitution amendment, for the senate had come out and only but a few knew about it, not even the newspapers were able to air this, to the public nor popular medium such as the television tell Nigerians,  well to our reps, I believe its another way not to sensitize the public politically, sadly even the representatives public submissions of opinion was not even publicized, if not through a program I listen to on a radio, that talked about it, and that it is currently on going.

Dear house of reps member in Lagos, I expect by now that you in all possible way would have let the people of Lagos, whom you are serving know how to contribute to the amendment of the constitution, at least; but here in this part if the world, politicians forget those they beg for their votes once they have gotten to where the power is. Secondly, at least the fact that nothing meaningful has being done is a reason you all probably, like other representatives in Nigeria too, forget their people because politics is now a game of selfish interest to you all.

Now that the people or some of us are aware of this, it is necessary you create a platform where our opinions can be aired, before the closure comes into play, like the senate of-which the people or just a few would have being aware, so they say.

Lastly, maybe our contributions won’t matter, or maybe it won’t even be used, but this will give us the necessary reasons to ask the necessary questions. Because he who must preach equity must come with a clean hand. The people of Lagos deserves to be completely carried along too.
