Anambra Guber poll: Senator Umeh Casts His Vote In Aguluzigbo, Urges INEC To Secure Results Of The Election Till The End
According to a post by Senator Umeh’s aide, Charles Ifeanyi Obi, on his Facebook page, “The Senator who voted alongside his wife, Lady Prisca Umeh, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Victor Umeh, OFR, in exercise of his franchise right, on Saturday cast his vote at PU018, Aguluzigbo Town Hall, Aguluzigbo in Anaocha Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State for the governorship election in the state.
According to a post by Senator Umeh’s aide, Charles Ifeanyi Obi, on his Facebook page, “The Senator who voted alongside his wife, Lady Prisca Umeh, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“He commended INEC for the effort in ensuring a hitch free Election pointing out that the process of casting his vote was swift and seamless.
“Senator Umeh on the other hand, commended the people for their effective participation in the exercise and for conducting themselves lawfully. However, he noted that voters’ turnout is below expectation.
“He enjoined INEC to ensure that the votes of the people are uploaded to the IREV Portal in real times in order to ensure transparency and to sustain the confidence of the Electorate in the process of collation and declaration of Election Results.
“He stressed that any glitch in the process can undermine the success of the Election and also, the integrity of INEC therefore called on the newly appointed INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, to ensure the exercise is concluded credibly and acceptable to all parties involved.
“Senator Umeh admonished INEC to ensure that whoever receives the highest number of votes of the Electorate is declared winner of the Election.
“On the issue of vote buying, the Senator condemned the act and cautioned the people against the risks of selling their votes. He emphasized that vote buying is a criminal offense and urged the people to apprehend those perpetrating the act.”
