Anambra State Approves N4.443bn for 11 Development Projects

Anambra State Executive Council sanctions 11 contracts worth N4.443 billion, including road rehabilitation, court upgrades, fire safety installations, traffic lights, and electricity extensions, reflecting the government’s commitment to development and public service improvements.

The Anambra State Executive Council has sanctioned eleven contracts totaling approximately N4.443 billion for various infrastructure and development projects across the state.

The Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, also revealed that N87.168 million was approved as the annual premium for an asset insurance policy covering the new Government House (Light House), Awka, under an initial five-year agreement.

  • Court of Appeal Complex, Awka: N171.48 million for the modification and completion of an abandoned court building and associated structures.
  • Awka Metropolis Roads: N330.5 million for the rehabilitation of failed portions of Court Road and Obunagu Road.
  • College of Nursing Sciences, Umueze-Isuofia, Aguata: N443.4 million for supply and installation of fire-fighting equipment.
  • Government House Theatre & Multi-purpose Hall, Awka: N297.9 million for additional furniture installation.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas Road, GRA Awka–Min of Lands–Ekwulobia Street–Chief Abose Ejeagwu Lane: N346.87 million for rehabilitation of damaged sections.
  • Country Club of Solution Fun City, Awka: N85.3 million for a 32kva solar power system installation.
  • Ikenga-Isuofia-Igboukwu Discharge Channel: N1.77 billion for construction.
  • Solution Park & Pay Garage, Ekwulobia: N90.45 million for an office building, gatehouse, toilet facility, concrete floor, park gazebo with solar panels, benches, and perimeter fencing.
  • Iyiora Anam Community & Zion Ministry Psychiatric and Elderly Hospital, Aguleri: N476.3 million for electricity extension.
  • Traffic Systems, Nnewi: N240.25 million for a 3-way traffic light at Igwe Orizu Junction, a 4-way traffic light at Nnewi Roundabout, and pedestrian lights at both locations.

Dr. Mefor emphasized that these investments reflect the state government’s commitment to infrastructure development, safety, and improved public services across Anambra.
