APC Chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye Urges Nigerians to Support Tinubu Against Insecurity
APC chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye calls on Nigerians to unite behind President Tinubu in tackling insecurity, urging cooperation across political and religious lines and warning against foreign troop deployment.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has appealed to Nigerians across religious, community, and political divides to rally behind President Bola Tinubu in tackling the nation’s persistent security challenges.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, the former lawmaker stressed that this was a critical period for Nigerians to set aside differences and work together to overcome terrorism and violent crimes threatening the country’s unity.
Oyintiloye expressed concern over a recent statement attributed to former U.S. President Donald Trump, who reportedly threatened to deploy military forces to Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians. He described the remark as “a serious matter that should concern every Nigerian,” urging citizens to defend the country’s sovereignty.
“We must come together and rally behind the President at this period. Our religious or political affiliations are irrelevant right now — what we need is unity to protect the sovereignty of our dear country,” Oyintiloye said.
He noted that the current security challenges did not begin with Tinubu’s administration but have built up over several years, affecting all Nigerians irrespective of religion or region.
“No religion can be said to be the target of terrorism. Muslims, Christians, and others have all suffered its negative impacts,” he added.
While acknowledging the concern shown by the United States over Nigeria’s security situation, Oyintiloye said the country would benefit more from intelligence sharing and military equipment support rather than the deployment of foreign troops.
“Getting foreign support in terms of equipment will be good, but not the deployment of soldiers. It may complicate the situation and lead to greater problems,” he cautioned.
The APC stalwart also urged members of the opposition to exercise restraint in their comments on national security, warning that instability would affect everyone regardless of political alignment.
Oyintiloye called on the newly appointed service chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by the President and intensify efforts to defeat terrorists across the country.
“This is not the time to play opposition politics. Our hopes and dreams for public service rest on the continued existence of Nigeria.
With cooperation among all stakeholders, we have the capacity to end terrorism,” he said.
He concluded by emphasizing that what President Tinubu needs most at this time is the collective support of all Nigerians to restore peace and stability.
