Are Our Mothers Different From Other Women? -By Hassan Idris
Oga, go and read about feminism and femininity-read books like Headscarves and Hymens: Why the Middle East Needs a Sexual Revolution by Mona Eltahawy or read any of Huda Sharaawi’s books (if there is), or any books on feminism, femininity; read, read and read.
When people spend their time seeking for knowledge or buying books to read and discuss, you’ll come from one bush closer to Nnewi or Kumbotso and be shouting’ Shegiya feminism, Shegiya feminism’ without even having a little knowledge of the difference between feminism and femininity. All you know how to do is stereotyping and lying that’ religion says hitherto’ anything feminism/femininity is devilish and Western ideology. But oga, you’re the first to beat your wife when she cooks for you during her menstrual period, abuse her psychologically, biologically, etc.
When she starts fighting for her femininity and right, you’ll start shouting ‘feminism is this and that’. If it were your mothers or sisters that were abused by another man like you psychologically and emotional, you’ll be fighting for femininity and shouting’ I’ll never agree to this’; my sister, my mother! But, you’re expecting your mothers and sisters to be treated well by another man but you don’t treat other people’s mothers and sisters well. It’s never done like that.
Oga, go and read about feminism and femininity-read books like Headscarves and Hymens: Why the Middle East Needs a Sexual Revolution by Mona Eltahawy or read any of Huda Sharaawi’s books (if there is), or any books on feminism, femininity; read, read and read.
Bye!
