Army Eliminates 7 Terrorists, Arrests 27 in Nationwide Counterterrorism Operations
The Nigerian Army has neutralised seven terrorists and arrested 27 others in nationwide operations targeting terror and criminal networks, under the directive of Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu. The coordinated raids spanned Borno, Kaduna, Plateau, and Niger States.
The Nigerian Army has killed seven terrorists and apprehended 27 others in a series of coordinated operations conducted across various parts of the country within the last 48 hours.
In a statement released on its official X handle, the Army said the operations form part of intensified efforts to dismantle terrorist and criminal networks nationwide, following fresh directives from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.
“In the North East, troops under Sector 3 of Operation Hadin Kai conducted a precision cordon-and-search operation in Anguwan Church, Monguno, Borno State, leading to the arrest of 12 individuals suspected of aiding terrorist logistics and intelligence,” the statement said.
It added that the 192 Battalion ambushed ISWAP/JAS fighters along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, killing three terrorists and recovering an AK-47 rifle with five rounds of ammunition. In another encounter, troops of the 25 Brigade in Damboa neutralized a terrorist attempting to infiltrate their base for surveillance.
In the North West and North Central regions, troops of Operation Enduring Peace raided a terrorist hideout in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing two insurgents linked to recent civilian attacks. Four suspects connected to the killing of two residents in Riyom LGA of Plateau State were arrested, while in Niger State, troops neutralized a terrorist scout and seized a motorcycle, mobile phone, and other operational items.
The Army emphasized that the coordinated strikes reflect its renewed combat efficiency under Lt. Gen. Shaibu and its commitment to safeguarding the nation.
“The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its mission to protect citizens and defend the sovereignty of Nigeria,” the statement concluded, urging the public to continue providing credible intelligence to support ongoing security operations.
