ASUU Strike And FG -By Muawiya Abubakar Hamidu
As a graduate of a university you should have a little pity for university lectures, the students and the entire management. They are the bedrock of development and research, they taught most of these Nigerians politicians yet they are the most humiliated workers second only to Police.
Being a Revenue Generating agency or corporation is not a reason for NNPC, CBN, SENATES, PRESIDENCY, FIRS, DPR, etc not to enroll in IPPIS. Which of the laws or parts of the constitution says if you are revenue generating organization you shouldn’t join IPPIS? Can anyone of you quote it for me? Educate me, please.
You see these IPPIS of a thing, is a selfish program that chooses to sideline certain Organization bècause the Rich and their sons, politicians and other illegal entitlements are all there. Take it or leave it. If we want justice and peace in this country then a policy applied to Mr. A should/must be applied to Mr. B.
selfish Interest of the presidency, lawmakers, Politicians was the only reason why NNPC, FIRS, NDIC, DPR, CBN, SENATES & JUDGES didn’t join IPPIS

In 2009 they make MOU with FG signed by Yar’adua FG failed to honour the MOU.
In 2013 the same agreements were reviewed by Goodluck and nothing was done but went on a veil.
In 2016 PMB came with fake promises and also promised to honour their demands but he failed.
In 2018 they went on strike and were plead to go back.
In 2019 FG started threatening them to join IPPIS they refused bècause they believed that IPPIS will not capture University legal demands yet they provide UTAS as a system and FG says it will look into it via minister of labour, till date he didn’t get back to them.
What we should be looking at here is that when did FG ever honour a single rightful demand of ASUU? the answer is no for almost 11 years and we all want ASUU to comply with FG directives at once? This is not fear.
We should always look at both sides of a matter before dishing out a solution. Until you seat with these lectures you will always blame them unknowingly.
Finally, all we demand from FG is to honour ASUU MOU 2013, Accept UTAS as a system of payments so that the strike will end and we all go back to school.
Let FG pay university lecturer’s salaries bécause the money doesn’t belong to them.
