Popular comedian and actor Bright Okpocha, better known as Basketmouth, has advised couples to avoid airing their marital issues on social media, warning that such actions could have lasting emotional effects on their children.

In a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, Basketmouth — who has publicly acknowledged his own marriage ended — said family disagreements are normal, but taking them online only creates unnecessary public drama and potential harm for the children involved.

“Families have had problems since the beginning of time,” he said. “I also had issues in my marriage, but I never brought them online to share details.”

The comedian noted that many couples forget that the internet never forgets, and the private matters they expose today could haunt their children tomorrow.

“They forget that their children will grow up and see these things online. Their children’s friends might use these details against them and damage their emotional well-being,” he warned.

Speaking on the ongoing public spat between actress Regina Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, Basketmouth appealed to the senator to show leadership and resolve the matter privately.

“Senator, you are an elder. If nobody will tell you, I will. Every day this matter gets worse. Handle it with the maturity expected of your office,” he urged.

Basketmouth’s comments have since sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians agreeing that publicizing family disputes online only worsens the situation and undermines family dignity.
