Speaking during in Yenagoa during a transparency briefing for January and February, Commissioner for information orientation and strategy, Ayibaina Duba on Friday said the state dares to succeed even though the amount involved is frightening.

The Bayelsa state government says despite the paucity of funds and the lackluster activities of the subsequent federal government it will kick start the age-long Nembe-Brass road which has been abandoned for over decades.
For years the Nembe-Brass road project has always been in the yearly budget but has never gotten the financial backing which had sparked agitations and protests from the concerned riverine communities.
Speaking during in Yenagoa during a transparency briefing for January and February, Commissioner for information orientation and strategy, Ayibaina Duba on Friday said the state dares to succeed even though the amount involved is frightening.
Duba stated that although the amount involved is startling, he said that as a government “If you don’t dare you won’t succeed.
His words: We have started the process, and exco has given approval for the award of the contract. Any moment from now, the process will be completed and the job will start soon.”It is going to affect us but like I keep telling everybody, no pain no gain. As a government, we are ready for it. Although it is a federal government road, we will still go ahead with it.
“Whatever we have, we will make sure that it is judiciously used for the benefit of the state. Like I keep saying, for every project that we started I’m proud to say that none has been stalled for whatever reason.
“The government has been religious in meeting up its financial obligations. I call you to go and investigate, any road projects that we have embarked upon, and we will complete them.”
On his part, while reeling out the financial inflow and outflow for January and February 2022, the technical adviser to Governor Douye Diri on treasury and finance Timinpre Seipolu disclosed that N4.16 billion naira goes to civil servants while political appointees gulp N479 million naira adding that the salary of the civil servant and that of political appointees always gulp about 80% of the whole inflow every month.
He said that January 2022, was closed with a balance of N7, 357, 971 while February had a deficit of N6,379, 608 with the addition of N7,357,971 brought forward from January, closing the month of February with about N978 million.
