Birthday: Hon. Olayinka Segelu salutes Southwest PDP women leader, Alhaja Abosede Adedibu

“I pray I live to celebrate and pay you back for many of your good deeds ma. Your name is written in gold. I haven’t forgotten how my father narrated the story to me and I took it as one of the outstanding bills I must pay after his death subsequently through a politically motivated assassination.

A Germany-based businessman and Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Olayinka Segelu, has saluted Alhaja (Chief) Modinat Abosede Adedibu, the Southwest PDP women leader on the occasion of her birthday.

Hon Segelu, the Chairman of YSEG Hotels and Suites Ibadan, Oyo State, in a statement issued on Wednesday to celebrate Alhaja Adedibu, described her as wonderful woman of substance and honour, who has greatly served humanity and contributed in no small measure to the growth of the PDP and sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.

In his congratulatory message to the PDP Southwest women leader, he said: “Happy birthday to our mother, the PDP Southwest Women leader and the godmother of the super performing Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde ‘Iya Gomina ti a’.

“I remember her role as a true and peaceful mother of Oyo State politics for many years today. Let me remind her of a story of over two decades ago. We were at the PDP convention in Abuja and my father (the late Chief Hon. (Dr.) Olusegun Moses Akintola Oladimeji Segelu) and Alhaji Yekini Ayoade Adeojo the Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland were both in the same camp, but unknowingly to him and others my father was kidnapped by some hoodlums somewhere within the convention ground. All the security personnel were put on alert to find out where my father was but to no avail.

“God used Alhaja Abosede to save my father from the abductors at the time. The Governor’s godmother was pressed and wanted to go and urinate only for her to see that the hoodlums had already tied my father looking for fuel and matches to burn him to death due to political differences arising from an attempt to hijack the party structure from my dad who was then the Oyo State PDP Chairman and the Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland who was then the leader of the party and a gubernatorial aspirant. Alhaja saw the hoodlums and shouted, acting like ‘Iyalode Efunsetan Aniwura’ a strong and courageous woman. She confronted them and said ‘se Aye eyin Omo yi fe baje se Baba Segelu le nse bayi, oya e tu won le’. That was how this great woman Alhaja Abosede Adedibu rescued my father from the hands of the miscreants.

“I pray I live to celebrate and pay you back for many of your good deeds ma. Your name is written in gold. I haven’t forgotten how my father narrated the story to me and I took it as one of the outstanding bills I must pay after his death subsequently through a politically motivated assassination.
