Blame okada riders for rising crime — Ondo Amotekun boss

AKURE -THE Commander of Amotekun in Ondo State, Mr Adetunji Adeleye, yesterday, blamed motorcycle operators, popularly known as Okada riders for the rising spate of criminal activities in the state.

Adeleye disclosed this after a crackdown on the activities of the Okada riders in Akure.

No fewer than 80 Okada were impounded by Amotekun personnel in the state capital.

The Amotekun boss said that the crackdown was to rid the state of criminal-minded persons and groups.

He said: “The only people allowed to move at that time are the law enforcement agents or people on essential services as they must carry certified identification cards before they can use their motorbikes.

 “We have discovered that Okada riders are the main causes of criminal activities across the state. We are going back by 7 pm today, all our men will be on all major junctions and inner land.

“No movement of Okada again, in that way, anybody seen with Okada at night, will be assumed as a criminal and will be handled as such.

 “There shall be no nightclubbing after midnight as every night clubber must go home. We are ready to rid the state of crimes of all kinds.”
