Boniface Returns to Leverkusen as AC Milan Delays Decision Over Medical Concerns

According to sources close to the negotiations, Milan’s hesitation stems from Boniface’s injury history, which includes two cruciate ligament tears suffered during his time with Bodø/Glimt in 2019, as well as recurring muscle issues throughout his career. These concerns have prompted Milan to proceed with extra caution.

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has returned to Bayer Leverkusen after his proposed move to AC Milan hit a snag following medical examinations in Italy.

The 24-year-old forward spent 48 hours undergoing tests at La Madonnina Clinic and Galeazzi Hospital in Milan, but the Serie A giants have yet to give final approval for the transfer.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the delay, stating on Sunday:

“After medical tests at AC Milan, Victor Boniface returns to Germany, as there’s still no green light to his move. After 48 hours in Milano, Boniface will be back in Leverkusen today, waiting for AC Milan’s imminent decision.”

The proposed deal reportedly includes a €5 million loan fee with a €24 million purchase option, but Milan is holding off on signing the final documents until they complete their internal medical review process.

Boniface, a key figure in Leverkusen’s Bundesliga title-winning campaign, had been identified as a major attacking reinforcement for Milan. However, unless the medical concerns are resolved swiftly, the transfer could collapse or be renegotiated on new terms.
