Following a falling out with the club’s management, Martin Braithwaite, who was recently let go by Espanyol, is allegedly planning to purchase the La Liga team, according to MARCA.

This action comes after his summertime departure from Espanyol.

Martin Braithwaite had stated that he wanted to leave Espanyol in 2023 when the team was demoted to the Spanish second level. He has since signed with the Brazilian Club Grêmio.

Even though he stayed to assist Espanyol in getting promoted back to La Liga, his contract’s leave clause was activated, making him a free agent due to deteriorating relations with the club’s management.

At Espanyol, Braithwaite had a notable performance in the Segunda Division last season, scoring 22 goals and providing three assists in 43 matches.

Despite a challenging stint with Barcelona, where he struggled to make an impact and was ultimately transferred to Espanyol, Braithwaite’s career has seen ups and downs, including an unsuccessful period with Middlesbrough and a brief but expensive spell with Leganés before Barcelona’s unexpected acquisition.

Braithwaite’s tenure at Barcelona was marked by limited success, and his time at Espanyol was similarly turbulent, culminating in his departure and subsequent move to Grêmio.

Now, the 33-year-old forward’s intention to purchase Espanyol seems driven by a desire to address his grievances with the club’s administration.
