BREAKING NEWS: Kidnapped Catholic priest, seminarian regain freedom

The priest’s younger brother, Chikezie Nwadike, said that the family was grateful to God for the release of his elder brother and the seminarian.

A Catholic priest, Rev Fr Chinedu Nwadike and a seminarian, Emmanuel Nwafor, kidnapped on Friday have been released.

The priest who is the Deputy Registrar of Spiritan University, Nneochi, and the seminarian were kidnapped on the Enugu-Okigwe expressway on Friday.

Their abductors had placed N50m ransom as the condition for their release.

Our correspondent was unable to confirm if any ransom was paid before their release as of the time of filing this report.

Our correspondent gathered that the men of God were released around the Nnochi-Ihube axis, the same area they were kidnapped on Friday.

A source said, “Do kindly rejoice with us, my relative, Rev’d Fr Dr Chinedu Nwadike, has eventually regained freedom. He and the seminarian were released Sunday evening unhurt to the glory of God.

“We express our grateful appreciation for your prayers. May God bless you.”
