BREAKING NEWS: Police begin manhunt for sergeant’s killers

The police in Calabar have begun a manhunt for gunmen who killed Sergeant Peter Ikwen, on Saturday morning.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo who confirmed the incident to one of our correspondents, said, “the Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt for the assailants who escaped with his rifle after killing him.”

According to Ugbo, as of the time of this report, no arrest has been made.

Until his death, Sergeant Ikwen was said to be attached to Atakpa Police Division and deployed to guard the palace of the Obong of Calabar.

It was gathered that he had stepped out of the palace to ease himself at Egerton street when the gunmen accosted him, shot and killed him after which they escaped with his gun.
