Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in prison following his conviction on prostitution-related charges. Prosecutors had sought an 11-year term, but Judge Arun Subramanian delivered a lighter sentence after a tense hearing in New York.

Before sentencing, Combs pleaded for leniency, telling the court, “I am truly sorry… I beg your honor for mercy.”

In July, the 55-year-old was acquitted of the most serious allegations — sex trafficking and racketeering — but found guilty on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.

His former partner, singer Cassie Ventura, described in a letter to the court years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, including “freak offs” she and another woman said they were coerced into. Ventura warned she fears retribution if Combs is released.

Prosecutor Christy Slavik argued Combs showed no genuine remorse, calling his attitude “the height of hubris.”

In his defense, lawyer Nicole Westmoreland portrayed him as an inspiration to the Black community who has “made mistakes” but is not beyond redemption.

Combs’s six children also appealed for leniency, with his daughter D’Lila saying: “Please, please give our family the chance to heal together. Not as headlines but as human beings.”
