APC defectors in South Kaduna

As the 2023 general election inches nearer and coupled with the political permutations in the country, the Southern Kaduna All Progressives Congress women leader, Hon. Racheal Averik, on Saturday, received 47 defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party into the ruling party.

The defectors, who were mainly from Arak Ward in Sanga Local Government Area of the state, noted that their defection was borne out of Governor Nasir El-rufai’s focus on inclusiveness of women and youths in his administration and providing credible leadership.

“The governor’s sterling style of leadership and his priority for women was one of the factors that motivated us into joining the party – the APC.

“About 230 members would soon join us to ensure that the ruling party maintained power beyond 2023.

Averik, in company of other party chieftains, while receiving the defectors, said Governor El-Rufai’s administration in the last seven years implemented various women/youth empowerment programmes as well as positioning them into strategic public offices.

She lamented that leaders of the opposition party, the PDP were only concerned about contesting elective position rather than grooming and mentoring new generation of leaders.

“The ruling party has provided ample opportunity for young people who occupied strategic positions in Governor El-rufai’s administration and today, they are millionaires,” Averik stated.

She assured the defectors of justice and fairness, urging them to use their political weight to ensure victory for the party come 2023 and beyond.

“I want to appeal to both old and new members of the ruling party to work together in peace and be law-abiding and work on the supremacy of our party decisions,” she said.

She disclosed that the party would soon make a proper arrangement to receive all defectors.
