BREAKING: Thugs disrupt PDP meeting in Kogi, injure members

The party in a statement signed by Dayo Onibiyo, Director of Communication, warned against an attack on its members and says it will allow the police to conclude their investigation before taking action.

No fewer than 10 persons were injured after suspected thugs invaded the venue of a meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party youths in Ologba in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

An eyewitness told our correspondent on Tuesday in Lokoja that guns, knives, horns and other dangerous weapons were freely used by the invading thugs during the attack.

It was gathered that the hoodlums also burnt several vehicles and motorcycles belonging to some PDP members and also the house of the opposition party’s youth leader in Iyale was also set ablaze.

“There is serious tension in Dekina LGA. The thugs came to the PDP youth meeting venue yesterday at Ologba, destroyed properties, burnt vehicles and motorcycles,” one of the sources said.

Meanwhile, Kogi PDP has condemned the attack on her members.

The party said that 2023 would not be business as “we will not tolerate any form of attack on our members.”

The PDP, however, appealed to its members to remain calm in spite of the provocation, warning that the party will no longer fold its arms and see its members attacked or killed.
