Bride Arrested in Katsina for Allegedly Killing Husband Three Days After Wedding
Katsina Police have arrested a newly married woman accused of stabbing her husband to death just three days after their wedding in Jibia LGA. The victim was found with a deep neck wound as investigations continue.
The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a newly married woman accused of fatally stabbing her husband just three days after their wedding in Jibia Local Government Area.
In a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu, said the groom was discovered in a pool of blood inside his home in the Tashar Buja community and was later declared dead at the hospital.
“On November 23, 2025, at about 1:30 p.m., a report was received at the Jibia Division that one Abdullahi (not his real name), a newly wedded groom, was found motionless in a pool of blood in his residence situated in Tashar Buja quarters, Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State,” Aliyu said.
“Detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where the victim was found with a deep cut to his neck. He was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.”
He confirmed that a suspect — believed to be the deceased’s wife — is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
Residents told Vanguard that the groom, identified as Abubakar, popularly known as Dan Gaske, had married the suspect, Zainab Muhammad, on Thursday, with the incident occurring on Sunday afternoon.
According to community sources, the bride allegedly stabbed the victim while he was asleep. She then reportedly went to a neighbour’s house to ask for food, raising suspicion among women in the area, who followed her home and found the groom lifeless.
Family members of the deceased denied claims that the marriage was forced, insisting the couple had maintained a cordial relationship before their wedding.
