Causes Of Youth Restiveness In The Society -By Shariff M.M Al-hassan

Nigeria is besides the banditary and kidnappings that are disturbing factors in the society today.Nigeria is being equally disturbed with other Youth restiveness such as violent criminal ties that resides on:

1- Child abuses.

2- Child truancy.

3- Child negligence.

4- Parental carelessness.

5- Uncontrolled child bearing.

Youth restiveness as a result of the above gives rise to most present heneious crimes being witnessed now in Nigeria.Mostly in areas of dastard crimes of:

1- Rape.

2- Cultism.

3- Matricide.

4- Patricide.

5- General murders.

These are mainly caused by the dangerous effect of get rich quick sydrome,poor education, bad leadership, poverty, illiteracy, effect of drug and diseases of heart. However, two major issues gives silent encouragement to these dear devil crimes mostly by the Youth across Nigeria.These monsters are the parental attitudes and drug circulations or abuse of drugs in the society which gives opportunity for the present rise of these crimes.

Therefore, parents and guardians must be proactive in the way and manner they handle their children.The uncared attitude of some parents of showing luckworm attitude to the way and manner on their children in matters like:

1- Late night home coming without rebutting the behaviour.

2- Wearing wonderful dresses without any rebuttal.

3- Seeing them moving with certain unknown friends.

4- Seeing them with expensive phones,shoes,dresses and funning body appearances.

v-Bad show of leadership by the parents or guardians.

Therefore inorder to curtail or stop these Youth restiveness and crimes,the Federal and State governments must be proactive by doing any of the followings:

1- Provide laws that will make parents/guardians also to be culpable if their children are found wanting.

2- More aggressive fight against illicit drug distribution by which NDLEA be liberalized to allow States and Local governments across Nigeria to have Drug Law Enforcement Officers who are indigenes and be locally appointed.

3- Investigations and prosecutions on any Youth restiveness cases be given special attention.

It is too often today in Nigeria that rape, cultism and gruesome murders are being spearheaded by Youths for reasons of wealth accumulation no more no less.Attentions must therefore be paid to any sudden wealth by any Youth through discreet investigations.
