CCT Indictment: Saraki Should Take The Path Of Honour And Resign -By Mac-Miller Anabraba

Bukola Saraki, Nigeria’s Senate President
The much desired change is taxing on the runway and about to dock on our nation’s capital.
The All Progressives Congress administration led by President Buhari, is striving to ensure that the nation’s common wealth is judiciously co-ordinated, managed and used for the benefit of all.
The fight against corruption and malfeasance therefore, is not borne out of the politics of envy, vengeance or witch-hunt. This critical, necessary and indispensable fight is intended to re-integrate, incorporate and embed a sense of probity, integrity and patriotism into our national psychic and the way public servants, private businesses and individuals carry on with their various duties and responsibilities.
The recent indictment by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) against the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and the subsequent injunction obtained by Dr Bukola Saraki, preventing any interrogation by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), is indicative that our nation’s emerging fight against corruption and malfeasance has truly crossed the rubicon.
Any innuendo statement of political witch-hunt against the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki is therefore hogwash and gibberish. Our nation is moving on from the era of political impunity and subjugation of individual liberty. In this democratic dispensation, all the procedural precautions for any indicted persons are in place, including the presumption of innocence, burden of proof on the prosecution, access to legal advice and guidance. Further, adoption of due process and strict adherence and observation of the rule of law forms, the hub of the new approach in the fight against corruption and malfeasance, with vigour.
Indeed, the good news is that, any indicted person can now spend time with their legal team, to study and analyse the case, with a view to prepare and put up a robust defence, before a properly constituted court or tribunal. And given that the Code of Conduct Tribunal is a properly constituted court, the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, will be given a fair hearing and hence, has no reason to anticipate or fear unfair or inequitable treatment.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North East of England has discussed the ramifications of the legal impasse between the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). Although the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has not been found guilty on any of the charges levied against him, nevertheless, the legal standoff has the potential to undermine and unravel our nation’s much desired fight against corruption as well as ridiculing and demeaning the stature of the upper legislative chamber.
In contemplation of the above therefore, and as Leader of the All Progressives Congress in the North East of England, I hereby call on Dr Bukola Saraki, to step down from the position of Senate President, so that he can devote time to clear his name of the charges brought against him by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). This will also spare the upper legislative Chamber from further ridicule, derision and international embarrassment.
Justice, it is said, is not necessarily black and white but grey. However, because there is sufficient safeguards in the system, Dr Bukola Saraki will be given a fair hearing. And in the end, equity and justice will prevail for those who have no skeletons in their closet or cupboard.
As for Mr Metuh’s PDP, it is no longer a bewildering issue that they have abdicated the role of patriotic and responsible opposition politics. But instead, they preferred to delve into political skulduggery and are in cahoots with corrupt desperados, determined to bleed our nation dry.
‘Good things they say come to those who wait’. Nigerians waited for sixteen years and voted for change. And now, change has come. However, the activities of political saboteurs within our ranks as well as the strategies of their PDP collaborators will be firmly repudiated, at every turn.
God Bless Nigeria
